Hi there, I'm planning on running my Evo VIII on Track Days and Autocross. I would like to keep it as stock as possible, don't like to tamper with my car, since it's so fast and crisp stock. However, I was considering installing a NOS system, just to be sure when driving around that I have a backup.

I have searched for a custom system for my Evo, but haven't found anything. A friend of mine installed a Venom V-1000 system on his new MINI and he told me it's really safe, it will provided a computer that shuts down the NOS if the mixture gets too lean. It provides an additional 100 HP.

Let me know what's out there for my car, and some feedbacks from people running their Evo's on Nitrous.

You can run it but make sur you get a custom tune by a reputable tuner. Im not a big nitrous fan. Unless its a V8 drag car

 

Evos love nitrous but I think you would have more fun buying bolt ons. If you were to do it I would reccomend at least a fuel pump and gauges for monitoring and a custom tune for it to get the most out of it at least.

 

autox/track with NOS........ummm I wouldnt (even if I have a v8 American muscle car). You are on and off the throttle all the time in those events. Not like in drag racing where its just WOT, shift, back to WOT...

+1 on getting a good tune. You can get a lot out of you car with many many other mods.

 

No offense, but I would have to agree with the guys above me. Like you already stated the car is alread quick and crisp. Do not ruin it by adding something like a NOS system. Its possible from what I have seen, but as far as SCCA regulations I dont know if they will allow a NOS bottle on the track.

 

Opps i thought just for drag or highway runs. In that case +2 for bolt ons and tune.

 

Seriously, just come out and say "I want to rice out my car, can anyone suggest a nitrous kit?", you're in denial.

If I buy bolts on to my car, I'll get bumped to another class in Solo Uno races.

I get a +5 Handicapped for being AWD

 

SCCA doesnt allow any nitrous setups to remain in your car while running. You'll have to uninstall each time you run. You might get away with just removing the bottle, but you'd have to ask the local tech chief . sometimes they have issues with running plumbing lines inside of cars.
