Evo's in my opinion are the best car U can have, like I said, if ur going to keep it stock, U have the best ever powertrain warranty.........10 year @100,000 miles. How many Evo's do U see on a daily basis as Ur driving around?? Barely any huh...if any at all. It's an OBSESSION, people that have it are envied by does that don't.....Buy yourself one...........and do it today........no there closed today , maybe Tuesday then.

i've had my IX MR since october of 05...25k miles on it, and i love it. i haven't had a single problem with the car at all. i've done some modding, nothing major. i'm on my 2nd set of brakes, and my 3rd set of tires. no regrets at all. just one big *** grin that i can't seem to wipe off of my face everytime i think about that sexy *** gray automobile in my driveway.

8400 miles on my BR350IX(005) not only no problems(not even a peep from the brakes) but it keeps getting better as the miles add up. I just put in an ACT clutch and flywheel at 7800 miles. But that is the only week link in the evo,s. The clutch in my 03 8 was gone at 5k. That is with spirited driving. But once you get rid of that weak link its all GREAT. Trust me and buy it. Do what you said as far as the mods.A drop in and tune along with a MBC will give you the best safest, quickest and all around great performance car you can drive and enjoy everyday and all year long.

i've had my rotors and pads replaced after 10K miles. And not really stomping on the brakes to wear them out. Just your basic "normal" braking. And the new rotors are given me vibration on the steering wheel again afer the brake in period. That has me concerned.

OH! and did i mention i am paying $300 for insurance....
trust me i regret it!!!!!!

I don't want you to take my comments in ill-manner, but I feel as if your statements are one-sided....What I mean is that the Evolution is a rally car with a bullet-proof motor, a 100k mile drivetrain, and brakes that are the best brakes for anything standard-equiped in the price range...The Evolution also exceeds in virtually all racing forms (auto-x, road racing, rally competitions, and even drag racing)...

The SRT-4 on the other hand is a great platform for those who have a less-serious racing ideal and who want to make great power at an even a lower price...To me, the SRT-4 is a drag racing beast!!...MOPAR parts can be installed at your local dealer with a factory warranty, you seriously couldn't ask for more...It is very easy for srt-4s to spank cobras and corvettes in drag racing for a small ammount of money, so Evolutions should be considered an easy 'feat...This being said, there are many who buy the Evolution as a drag car...The motor and turbo are much better suited (especially in the IX) for modification than similar platforms and the aftermarket parts scene is sick (arguably the reason why most of us frequent the forum), but I don't feel that the drivetrain is setup from factory for drag racing as well as other platforms...Many who have tried to use our car for drag racing have experienced things as you have stated (clutch/flywheel upgrades, bad syncros) in addition to blown transfer cases and transmission repair...Some would argue this is "abuse," but I believe abuse is a relative-term, in that people compare what their previous car could handle in similar conditions (what is tolerable for certain cars may not be as tolerable for another)...Also, some people drag race constantly without any problem: I believe this is because they learn what abuse is in relation to the Evolution...

This being said, if you strictly use your car for drag racing (which I am assuming), I think you are using the wrong platform...I think the best platform for drag racing in the same price range is the 03-04 Cobra...They are easily modded to whatever HP you desire for an overall inexpensive price, with a very dependable setup in stock form...If you need four doors, I believe the SRT-4 was the perfect platform for your needs...

As far as brakes are concerned, the stock pads squealed horribly when I recieved the car, until I took my car to the track...Brake specialists have advised me that this is a characteristic of big-brake setups, and although aggravating it is almost better that they squeal and provide better performance...In fact, the larger you go, the more they squeal...As far as uneven tire-wear, I will say that my tires have worn in the same way as a FWD car, but not unevenly...

Anyway, I feel that our car is the most under-rated, versatile, factory racers available...If you do not participate in these sort of things, obviously there will be a better suited platform...This being said, do you think that the Evolution is a bad platform or simply has been a bad choice for your type of usage?

Love this damn fine auto mobile EVO IX 8000 miles. Been to the drag races hard launches and allot of street abuse, i mean spirited driving. No problems with mine other than some brake squeek once in while when they are hot. I expect this from Brembos though. Go to mitsu dealer and tell them to show you the EVO video. It will prep you for the small noises and such that you may have to deal with owning a factory race car. Don't be scared to buy an EVO they are really great cars and by far the best bang for the buck out there for a true sports car.

I have had two EVOs, an 05 VIII and an 06 IX. Did bout 20K miles on the VIII and am near 20K on the IX.

I beat (not abusive, just drive very hard) on my cars everyday. I drive on roads that most would complain about and most wouldnt even take their evo on. I launched both cars bout 20-30 times. No problems, dont need any clutches, etc.

My friend also has had three EVOs and he the most abusive driver I know. He beats on his cars worst then me, which actully says a lot. He has also had no problems, besides wreaking and totaling them.

My only complaint would be the interior rattles quite a bit.

I plan to own more cars (hopefully a lot more cars, cuz i dream of 350z, lotus', 335i and rx-7 all the time) and all i know is, I WILL ALWAYS HAVE A EVO IN MY GARAGE, even if i have a damn F430.

i have 18,000 miles as of last night and have had a TBE and drop in filter and mbc on for a while now, not a single problem.

keep in mind that people who have no problems with their Evo's will not post on this board and say "yay my car is problem free let me make a post about it"...only the people with problems will post, and most of them make the problem sound much more serious than it really is....because it's human nature to want to get sympathized by fellow human beings

Well your replies are comforting...i already have the car reserved (Tarmac Black GSR) and i am approved for financing and everything so i just want to be sure i'm making a good choice..Iv'e driven these cars pretty extensively, and iv'e owned DSM's in the past so i'm aware that they are not going to drive/sound or be as refined as some of the Honda's iv'e owned in recent years..I will do NO drag racing with the car so i'm just hoping that it'll hold up with no major issues for at least a couple years.IIn your experiences is Mitsubishi pretty good about honoring warranty stuff if the car is stock?
