What brand of jack stand
#16
Hockey pucks are bar none the best. I use them on all of my stands and also on my jack. They are soft enough not to hurt the car, but won't crack or break. I've had the same set of 5 for 3 years and there is hardly a mark on them. I know some people have cut notches in them for the sills, but it seemed overkill to me. As you let the car down the puck just molds into place. I feel very confident under them.
for service or to get snow tires, those shop won't care, and they certainly will not
put a hockey puck for me. Any idea/mod to protect the 4 corner jack point under the car?

Got mine from the local tool store. Got a pair of 3 ton, and a pair of 6 ton. I HATE lifting the car 3 feet off the ground just to get the 6 ton's under there. That's the reason for the 2 diffrent sizes for diffrent jobs. HTH

I wouldn't be too worried about that. When the dealer or any shop for that matter lifts your car they are lifting it from 4 points at the same time evenly. There is a lot less chance of anything bad happening.

Yeah I use a notched hockey puck to jack the car but have yet to use them on the stands cause I'm worried the car will slip off the puck and stand.
Monkeyhead8 so you don't notch the puck at all, you just place it between the jack and the notch in the frame rail and drop the car down on it?

I know what the original thread starter is talking about. There is not a jack stand that I have seen that spans the pinch weld where the factory advised jacking point is without crushing it. They are either too shallow or span a large gap that ends up crushing the surrounding areas of the jacking point. Hockey pucks are ok, but to me they pose a hazard if they ever become brittle or slide out of the top of the jack stand. There has to be a better solution, I just havent found one yet....
