If you ask me, the anti-lag is over-rated. It burns out your manifold and turbo much quicker than on a normal turbo setup. To really get rid of turbo lag effectively, the only real engineering solution is active variable geometry turbine housings (electronic).

When I saw the picture I knew that line over the manifold had something to do with it...what it was I hadn't a clue though.

Either way you'll be spending lots of money. Id rather blow flames out my @ss then be able to brag about have a super variable turbo

You are in your WRC Evo and you coming up to a corner you let of the gas and the Ecu senses that its time to do its thing. What it does is Inject more fuel and retard spark timming by 40 degrees of the crank, and it opens a solenoid to push some air into the manifold. When the spark fires, since it happens 40 degrees retarded, the exhaust valves are slightly open. The extra air in the manifold enhances the combustion and the turbo spins from this. So you're aren't realy building boost, but now when you go to gas it the turbo is somewhat spooled already so it build up the boost realy fast. Plus antilag sounds kinda cool.

Varible Vein Turbos are great but they have their problems as well. (Veins will stick open under heavy use) Know from experience. The new Mazda turbo is amazing however and is more than likely the future.I think also that antilag is overrated for a street car but this is one of monsters time attacks so I think I will go ahead and give them the big thumbs up.

I've been curious about this as well. Using ECUflash, under the boost tables, there is a "boost enhancment anti-lag start and stop RPM" setting. All evo's also have the anti-lag bosses on the exhaust manifolds. I think they just left it off the USDM versions to comply with emissions in the states as well as increasing the longevity of the turbo's=lower warranty costs. It would still be cool to play around with if you can get your hands on the parts.

sorry to say but the first picture posted by the OP is definitely not Anti-Lag.
Don't know what it is but its in all JDM spec EVOs.

Please see my engine bay pic below

P.S. If it is anti-lag, great!
