I'm curious to know what you feel is different about the two drivetrains.

I haven't tested the IX's AWD, but it feels just as competent as the 06 STi that I had. I was able to drive that car through a blizzard in Boston when most cars were sliding off the road or stuck with little problem and I don't doubt I could do that in the Evo with the same tires.

In the times I've taken hard turns the car seems to move well/oversteer (better than the STi) but it didn't seem like it was gripping as well. I don't know if thats just the tire difference from the RE070s to the Advans. Like I said, its probably just nothing

your evo mr might be hard to launch cause of the lauch limiter on the stock ecu...get a ecu flash and move that lauch limiter up, I had an 03 that didnt have such a thing and was easy to launch, and have seen and driven the newer ones with the limiter and are hard to launch and have ran them after the flash and its all good.

I came from an STi too. Just wondering if you find it ALOT harder to double clutch? The evo just doesnt seem to rev as quickly.

YO,
Are you Albert's ( blue STI) buddy, if so I was checking out your GTI when you were at P&L last summer. I knew you wouldn't have the GTI long. Congrats on the Evo. I went with you guys up to Denny's one night. We need to go road racing this summer and smash some STI's.

That's a lot of miles for one month. Do you change the oil every other week?

That probably has more to do with the engine specs

4G63 85mm Bore x 88mm Stroke - 9.010" Block Height
EJ25 99.5mm Bore x 79mm Stroke - 7.913" Block Height

That 9mm less travel and a larger bore should definitely be one of the reasons the subie seems to rev quicker.

That is strange since stock for stock the evo even has slightly wider tires 235/45R17's compared to the STI 225/45R17's . Tire selection is for the experts and I'll leave it to the track guys to explain that :P

What do you mean double-clutch? Did you want to revmatch your downshift and heel&toe?

^^^ That guy has been watching too much Fast and Furious.... double clutch, pffffttt!

What you, and all of us need to use is an adjustable clutch stop! I've used one on every one of my cars from my old BMW M Coupe to my WRX. It should only cost you about $5 if you go to a hardware store and get one (an elevator door stop). Give it a try... it'll get rid of all that free/unneccesarry clutch movement.

Stiklr, thats me!!!! My name is John, sup??!? I'm looking to go to Gingerman in April. Im sure Albert might go too.

msdevo06 - Car was bought used ;-)

And yeah, its harder to rev I think and the clutch feel just isnt smooth to me. The adjustement will need to be made. I have found that if I really stomp on the car and go to like 4.5k on the tach, it shifts whereas the subies are pretty smooth no matter where you are shifting at.
