South Coast Mitsubishi + Mark M. + Empty Promises?
I was curious as to how many owners that purchased their Evos from South Coast Mitsubishi, primarily through Mark M. and have recieved empty promises? I am not nit picking, but when a promise is made, even had written under an agreement, and not fulfilled it REALLY stirs me up. I had been promised not only a gas card, (car was given with barely 2gallons of "japanese" fuel, barely enough to find a nearest gas station), but also a RR touch-up pen, neither of which I have recieved. I heard excuses about how the parts manager did this or that, but this is an on-going matter since I bought my RS in JULY 2006, PLENTY of time to resolve this small issue. Have any of you all recieved these promised items or was it just a scheme to avoid the situation at the time of picking up your car and avoiding the few dollars he (most likely his dealership), would have spent had he given us all full tanks as most 99% of dealership do? I saw another member recently which in his signature had mentioned he hadn't recieved a promised gas card either.
All I am asking for is Mark M to fulfill his promise in that sending me a gas card, as well as under his written agreement, a RR touch-up pen. We have discussed this over PM a few times and still nothing to settle this ongoing issue.
ps. before anybody asks, he said you fill out a survey and send it back and will be mailed a gas card a few weeks later -yes I completed it as per his directions.

lets start off with this i live about 6 hours away from south coast mitsu,I had the same issue with getting my gas card, my car when delivered had the gas light on, it took me about 6 months to get my gas card, and i believe the only reason i got it because i went back down their to visit a freind and i went into south coast mitsu and confronted mark in front of the manager, it all ended up fine, and the fill up was $45.00 because the high gas prices down their, they would of got off cheaper if they would of just gave me a full tank when i bought the car.

^^Regardless, a promise is a promise. I was PROMISED a gas-card as well as a written agreement for a touch-up pen. I recieved neither, not bashing the dealership or the price I got for my car, i'm holding him to his promise, and am salty at the fact he abused his promise. Not very professional.

I got that line too.. fill out the survey and get a free tank of gas or gas card.. no dice. I'm too lazy to fill 'em out anyway

Most dealerships give you a free tank of gas with your new car purchase. Of course us guys that had the car shipped from there are a different story. Auto transport companies make it very clear the car must have as little gas as possible. The unloader even told me to get to the nearest gas station as soon as I start it up because there's practically no gas in there.
I did not go through South Coast as Mark never returned my phone calls. I had no idea Victorville, Long Beach, and South Coast were owned by the same company until I spoke with Bob Mirandi at Victorville.
Bob was a great guy (of course he's the GM so he has to give great service) but he was willing to answer all my questions, kept me informed of progress in getting my car, set up shipping, and even gave me his private cell phone # when he left town on a business meeting so I can make sure I have a way of keeping in contact with him. I have never received better service, even from the local Mercedes dealership where 2 100K+ cars were purchased by my family.
Victorville didn't have the color I wanted so the car was shipped directly from South Coast. When the car came I had no floor mats! I was furious thinking "I just paid over 30K for a brand new car and I don't even get floor mats." Checked online and sure enough, it's supposed to come with floor mats. I called to South Coast and asked where my floor mats are. I gave them all the information and they knew exactly which car it was. I was promised a phone call as soon as they were shipped that day. No phone call at all. I call over to Bob at Victorville, he calls them, calls me back and let's me know it'll ship out that day. 3 days later I have a big Mitsu box waiting on my front porch.
Long story short, I don't think it's really Mark or the other salespersons at South Coast that's a stingy bastard, I think it's their parts manager. The guy tried to give me a car without floor mats. What kind of person would try to save money by not giving me my floor mats?

Unreal! Cheap bastids - you get 3K off a car and you're quibbling over a dozen gallons of gas?
MM was golden for me. He honored the deal he struck with me when his sales manager wanted to charge the new, higher price.
I'll take a grand in the pocket and buy my own gas.
Sheesh...

It appears that for Tyler, that is the case. I am sure none of these people will miss the $50 or so that the tank of gas and touch up paint cost, but it is the principal. I doubt that any would have backed out of the deal without the gas and touchup paint, but don't commit to something unless you intend to honor the commitment, seems pretty simple to me.

the only real thing to do in this case is just to keep in correspondence or nag until he goes through with it, show how much you really want it or if you're too lazy to care. i was promised 2 t-shirts from speed element but was only given one. i didnt care too much and didnt call cal back about it - i'm sure some businesses do it purposely so they can save a few pennies, not because they forget.

Purchased my car from South Coast & brought my survey to the dealership for my gas. I even got a free tank of Halloween gas...but I missed the free turkey give away at Thanksgiving time. So that makes two free tanks of gas. That sucks you don't live local. If it helps all of their prices went up $1000.00 this month
