Look at 2 much rarer Mitsubishi products of yesteryear - the Galant VR-4 and the 3000GT VR-4. Both of those cars were produced in much lower numbers than the Evolution for the US market.
How are those two examples holding their value today, 18-15 years later? Certainly better than your average family sedan, but they have a long way to go to reach "collector" status.

The IX is a nice car; But it is problably more of a test Mule.
The change to the Mivec, ECU, cooling pasages, turbo, etc. is all being tested to see how the new innovations work.
All they have to do is add all this things and let the public use them for a year or two. Then after all the fine tuning is done, they are incorporated into the new production car, the Evo X.

do you see how much a 1990 eclipse gsx costs? That is how much an evo will cost in about 17 years. You people need to stop acting like this car is the greatest engineering feat to date.
