im a little confused the SE is not the MR to my knowledge. I thought the MR was a 6spd and bilstein struts. The SE has some of the goodies the MR has, but -1 gear and the bilstein suspension right? You can now special order black MR's ORLY?

What about the VIII? it was the 1st in the states. The MIVEC in the XI is a test for the X and the future GS44 that is replacing the lancer. The VIII has the original 4G63 engine.

The only way evos will be worth money in 20 years is if the environment jackholes take over and make all of the new cars super-enviro friendly with little emissions and even less HP.

I beleive the VIII's anf the FQ's will be worth hangin on to but it will take a long time. It takes about 30 years for a car to be a classic and more desirable. A car also has to be rare, just like a 69 Camaro then it was nothing , today 70,000 or so!
The rarest of the Mits. is the JDM models. and will never see the states!

Is there any truth to this statement that the TB Evo IX MR with appearance package was a factory mistake and that only 500 were made? I have one but I was never under the impression the car was a mistake...

I think it will be. It's very high performance, built in relatively low numbers, and already has a dedicated following. Plus, they ain't making them anymore. The reason why I believe it will be is pretty simple. Watch Barrett Jackson, it's all older dudes that now have money, trying to buy the ride they had back in high school, or wanted to buy back in high school but couldn't afford it. I mean, I like COPO Camaro's, LS6 Chevelles, Boss 429's (and 302's), AMX's, Cuda's and the like, but they aren't [B][I]my[I][B] cars, they're my Dad's or Uncles. Hell, I've built damn near every great 70's (and late 60's) musclecars that Detroit put out (see above list), even a couple of Rods (a deuce and a 34), but those cars really don't interest me anymore. Nope the Barrett Jackson of the future (although it won't be Barrett Jackson, it'll be some other organization catering to our age group/demographic) will be composed of Supra's, WRX's, Evos, Cobalt SS's, SVT Foci, Civic SI's, etc. These are the cars I like to work on, and will be interested in, in the future.

I could have bought a CLS, a Porsche or a Bimmer(M5), but this baby boomer bought the evo for its "collector" value and it is fun to drive!

Common knowledge?
Please share with us all you know about the new X Engine. You believe you know so much about it!

For your information, a motor is electric. An engine is what you turn on every morning when you start your Evo, . Simple, yet you don't seem to know the difference.

You probably looked at the pictures of the engine bay of the X here on EvoM and now thinks that is enough to make assumptions.

Common sense is what is needed. Have an open mind. Mitsubishi is using a different engine on the X, but the ECU software, and other mechanical parts and specifications currently beign used on the IX could be part of the new engine integration, with may be some improvemetns and changes. Which is what I was talking about. Like I say, open your mind to other things, and not just superficial observations.
