Question Engine Swap?

So here is the deal. I am getting a really used 03 evo in the summer with high miles. I wanted to drop my 05 motor into the 03 body. I have a question though. Will there be any modifications if I still wanted to keep the ACD? Also the intercooler sprayer with the 03s; would I need to change anything to keep it or do I need to get rid of it? If yes can someone please direct me on the right track on what I need to do. Thank you all for your input.

you need a lot more than just an ACD transfer case to have the ACD, it has tons of parts. ECU, pump, relays, hardlines, resoiver, and many others. and they removed the sprayer in 05+ models to have room for the ACD system.

Once you swap ecu with your 05 to the 03 it wont start becasue the keys wont match and it would be to much in labor to swap everything out.

Your better off selling your parts you have and building the motor out of the 03 or buying a brand new oem motor if you dont plan on doing any crazy mods.

the motor's the same, you can run an 05 motor with an 03 ECU. when i said ECU, i meant the seperate ECU used to run the ACD, not the engine's ECU. he'll just have trouble swapping the drivetrain over and making it work, but i think he could if he has all the components off his wrecked 05 and they are all in working condition. if not, you can use the engine and trans fine, just use your 03 TC and ECU and be done with it. it would be a royal PITA trying to set up the ACD system in a non-ACD car, though it is possible.

Whoa, 16yo Muslim dude, what happen to your Evo? I thought your dad was making you put it away for the Winter.

There's no reason to put your 05 motor into the 03 - it's the same motor. I would just sell all the stuff from your 05 if it's totaled instead of trying to retrofit it to an 03. JMO...

You cant swap a 05 ecu with a new key into a old 03 key switch. The key wont turn you would have to swap out the key switch as well. Because if that was the case everyone would swap ecu's and drive away with someone else evo. And we all know swaping ecu's only takes 4 mins.

i didn't say use the 05 ECU. he can simply put the 05 engine in the 03 and run it with the 03 ECU, very simple. the engines are the SAME. you don't need an ECU of the same year of the engine. not to mention, you can change the immobilzer code with ecuflash, so you can swap ECU's.
