Cold Advans

I am noticing a slightly bumpier ride and more road noise. Is this expected from the stock yoko advans in cold temps?

You're gonna have a bumpy ride and road noise no matter what the condition the advans are in. But I know what you mean. I don't think the noise or bumpiness gets less as it warms up, I think you just get used to it, or forget about it when you smash on the gas pad.

All tires handle and sound like crap until they are heated up.

After a night of sitting in the cold the tires will be very slightly flatened out on the bottom, and the ride will be bumpy for a short distance untill the tires get back to their normal shape.

Shouldn't be to much of a problem in Florida.

They are summer tires made for summer temperatures and summer weather. They will harden up when they get cold and a loss of traction and the other factors that you mentioned will be evident.

+1 Be extremely cautious in the cold with the stock Advans. You Floridians are lucky and do not have to deal with the temps you all are having now very often. But nevertheless, warm them properly before any remotely "spirited" driving.

Me and a buddy put his new wheels wrapped in Azenis RT-615s on his Miata in below freezing temps just to see what they'd do, and they spin easier than his ghetto Hankooks on his other wheels. When they heat up I hear they're a great tyre tho...we'll see :-)

cold weather with rain (to a point where it freezes)= BAD, just a couple of days ago I was up in the mountain roads, all of a sudden it started snowing and raining, my car slid and hit a frozen pack of ice on the side of the road, had it not beed for the old snow, my car would of been RUINED, and mind u I was only driving 10-15 mph!

i will no longer be going up there until i get a set of rims with some winter tires.

be very careful in temps below 40 degrees, let the tires warm up first!
