The "brake" indicator light on my dash is acting weird.

This started about a month ago and happens more on cold days than on warm days. The brake light(when you have the ebrake on) on my dash lights up randomly even when I don't have the ebrake on. Anyone else ever have this problems? Anything I should check for? I've got an 03 with 24k miles, bought it brand new, the evo doesn't have some sort of brake checker where it knows it's time for new brakes or something weird like that does it? Light seems to go off as the car gets warmer and when the light is on the car drives like normal.

The light usually (on other cars I've owned, assuming the Evo is the same) indicates that your pads need to be changed (through fluid level monitoring).

Check your brake fluid and pads.

check the level of brake fluid
when breaking hard or accelerating hard the fluid swooshes around tripping the sensor.

+1 on the pads and fluid changing as the main culprit.

just like mentioned, the brake light is suppose to be an idiot light for brake pads. if brake fluid is full to max line that would indicate you have brand new pads front and rear, as your pads wear out your fluid in the reservoir will began to drop because the calipers will need more fluid because the piston has traveled further. brake light will indicate when the fluid reaches a certain level telling you your caliper pistons are extended probably to the fullest. now its not always correct if someone has topped off your fluid before because now you have actually too much fluid in the reservoir and what will happen when you change pads is the fluid will then overflow the reservoir and make a mess. check your pads and replace if necessary.
