What does a blow shock sound like?

i hear a rubbing noise coming from the front right spring. im taking the strut out now as we speak. going to reinstall the spring from scratch and see what happens. im thinking maybe the spring moved from its place some how?

i just did an autocross yesterday and pretty much fogged the car like there was no tomorrow

handling doesn't feel any worse by the way...

cheers!

It's very possible to have a strut that's blown that seems to be functioning properly because you don't weigh anywhere near half a ton. We don't weigh enough to see if the strut assembly is working properly. One way to see is to somehow compress the rod (no spring) from the side that you think is blown, compress the rod from a side that is good to the same amount, and see if the rod comes up at roughly the same speed.

Another way you'll notice a blow strut is the car bouncing around like those ghetto cut spring rice rockets or strut juice seeping from the area around the rod.
