I disagree, having driven in snow and ice for close to three decades. That said, the tires aren't the only piece of the equation. There's also a factor called car control, which involves turning the steering wheel.
Regardless, the OP went out in snow on the Advans. End of story.

To the OP, you could still trade it in for a decent amount or sell it privately. My VIII was in a $18k accident, when I traded it in for my IX I still got $19K for it, and the Mitsu dealership knew all the details of the accident. I don't think I could have got more for it anywhere else.

Accidents happen all the time. Driver error/judgement is usually the cause.
In this case it's solely the kids fault who ran the stop sign.
The OP has no fault in this.
Some of us have no choice but to drive in severe weather and just apply good judgement on driving upon these conditions to avoid accidents. But you can't prevent some idiot running in front of you to cause the accident.
Even if your running the best snow/studded/tractor/chained tires.

fjf is a troll end of story everyone in this should totally disregard his statements
from the way hes talking it sounds to me as if fjf was in the OPs car at the time of the accident
if thats not the case (which im 99.9999% sure it isnt) he really needs to stfu
because he has no idea what happened besides what hes been told
and the only thing ive gathered from his statements are that good snow tires stop kids from running stop signs infront of you
hey fjf remember when you crashed your evo you think some better tires would have helped in that situation?

I know the advans are not good for the snow but are they ok for the rainy season? I know coz its winter in California and i still have my stock tires on (car is only 5000 miles) not sure if i should get some winter tires or all season and change them right away or not.

No, you didnt. You stated your facts about the Advans, then continued to go on and flame every person who replied after you. That is called Trolling and unnecessary posting/flaming.
Do you really believe by you being a smartass to every reply, that you are gonna make them see your point? No. Once again that's called unnecessary flaming/posting.
See, now I have stated my point and intent for posting, and now I will move on.
Watch and learn.
You're excused.
