Aluminum vs Steel makes up for part of the factory savings/weight figures. I would imagine that the Alum top is about the same if not lighter, unless the CF is single layer without the supports. Any ideas as to the comparisons?
the robispec cf hood weighs 11 lbs vs the stock hood that weighs 21 lbs. its the only one that i found that is substantially lighter than the stock one. the stock alum roof is 23 lbs i think while the ams cf one is 16 lbs i might be off by about a pound...

You only reduced 70 pounds total for all the doors combined, or is that 70 pounds saved per door? AMS said that they reduced about 200 pounds for all doors combined.

That's combined. Front doors saved ~20lbs each, back doors were 15 each, deck was about 10. Not much savings for the cost. That's why I started a thread a while back about the cost per pound of weight savings. By doing that, we could put a sorted order list out that would show what each change should be, based on expense. No way to save 200 lbs without leaving the doors, deck and hood completely off.

Oh, I see. Is it legal to have carbon fiber doors on the street? Does it come with crash beams? Nice engine bay by the way.

Dan, I'm going to try to hit the 1320, but it's been nearly 30 years since I did it on a regular basis. I intend on running you down and letting you show me the tricks. Sometimes old dogs CAN learn new tricks.

By the way, it sounds like your new engine is set on kill for sure. Best of luck this year. You are certainly an inspiration to those of use 'newbies' and 'oldies' alike.

I think it says, "If you're reading this while you're driving, you shouldn't own or drive this car!", I'm such a prankster. Actually, it's a factory sticker I haven't removed yet.
