Help window will not go up
my window on the passanger side willl not go up, with the switch it goes down but not up. it has been doing this for about 3 weeks but if i hit the door and held the switch it eventually went up. But that does not work anymore, so i dont think its the switch. Its hard to work inside the door i took off the door panel wires look ok, since it goes down it most likely is not a fuse. Any one have any ideas, its winter and the window is stuck down...

It's most likely the window motor took a crap. Does it go up with eaither switch (Driver or passenger side switch) If it doesnt go up with either switch. No doubt its the motor. Get a new one and put her in there. Its really not that hard of a job on the EVO
Good Luck

*Qiuck diagnose if the switch is working*
Since you have the door panel off,
Find the window motor connector. It should be a 2 pin connector.
1. Disconnect it from the motor.
2. Get a 12v test light.
3. Attach one end of the test light to one of the connector pins.
4. Attach the other end to the other pin. You can use a paper clip(metal) and stick it in the other pin and clip the other end of the test light to it.
5. Now turn the ign. ON and work the switch UP and DOWN and see if the test light turns ON both ways.
6. If it does, then the switch works and your motor is shot.

This is one of problems of Lancer.(same as evo mechanism) Will the window go up if you pulled it up while pressing up button at the same time??? It might be out of the track or misaligned. Remove the door panel and check it......if not? its the motor then.........Good luck!!!

i took the plug out of the motor and piut a piece of wire in the neg and positive. i then turned the switch up...nothing..then i turned the switch down(which the window works going down) and it blew the thin wire, so it is definitly the switch right.

The window works by applying + voltage to go one way (down) and reverses the + to go the other way (up).
If you just jumped it one way and not the other, then you will only have one movement on the motor.
Also a motor can work for a few passes and when it gets hot, it will fail on you.
So try it numerous times before you think it's okay.

solution
i ran jumpercables from the battery to 2 thin wires and jumped it from the wire harness right out of the switch(to see if any wires were cut)and the window went down i switched the wires around the window went up , it was the switch i took out the switch and saw a problem.
