Aftermarket Head gasket?
#17
I can vouch for the HKS 1.2MM head gasket, I've had it for about 8k miles and I haven't had any issues. I installed it when I pulled of my head to do cams, valvetrain and the ARP head studs.

I'm in the market for a head gasket as well. I've got an 03 Evo8. Doing head studs, valves, cams, prolly cam gears....
But I'm torn with all these different gaskets. Why should I spend $200 on an aftermarket gasket?
I do intend to do a slightly larger turbo as well (At least an Evo 9 turbo).

If you want to lower your compression try an aftermarket one that shims it.
I had the HKS one that lowered the compression. It held perfect along with arp headstuds.
I now have an OEM one now with the same headstuds working perfectly fine as well. Reasoning for changing was the big boys race cars use them with great success and I had to change the valvetrain.

I agree with you on replacing the head gasket. I have heard lots of issues with oil dripping down the back of the block when people do the 1x1 method.
What is wrong with your cams that requires fixing?
