We just got the insurance renewal form last week, and were pleasantly surprised to see it actually went down by a little bit.
We now pay $602 per year for the wife's Forester XT, and $791 a year for the Evo. I'm 34 (35 at the end of the month), with a clean record, and we have quite a few discounts applied (multiple car discount, homeowners, Evo is classified as a recreational vehicle, Evo is put up for the winter, etc.) as well.
I did find it humorous that they included a $128 annual policy premium on the Evo as a result of "curb weight to horsepower ratio"...

I pay about $900 every 6 months through esurance. I have my limits as 250,000/500,000. Have rental, medical, and my deductible set low enough. 22 with two speeding tickets and 2 at fault accidents.

Amstel78,
I was once married to a military member. She had a Lexus LX 450 SUV about- 7 8 years ago and she was with Geico for years.
On the other hand I had a Porsche 911 Carrera 4 AWD Cabriolet (about 7 years ago) insured with USAA.
We both talked to our companies and try to make the best deal, despite being both in the service it was very expensive for me to switch to Geyco and it was very expensive for her to switch to USAA. We left our policies alone, I kept mine and she kept hers.
With these stupid policies and stupids codes you never know. Many insurance companies will give you a good rate until you drop the word Turbo, then all the sudden your profile falls under "dangerous/racing dricing".

I have USAA. When I had my Z06 the insurance was cheaper than the EVO. When I asked why I was told it had to do with rate of claims. For instance, if you take 1000 Corvettes and 1000 Evos which group files more claims for theft, accidents, tickets, etc. Answer: the Evo's.

Remember ZIP CODE matters.
ZIP CODE.
And also, the thing with the evo is it's apparently affordable and everyone races them. Also, EVERYONE crash's them. They aren't that stupid.

Evos are the 2nd most stolen cars
Evos are the 2nd most stolen cars behind the Escalade (rap stars and athletics own them).

I am still trying to make logical sense to the fact that the Evo has the highest insurance rate of the 3 for my insurance company(USAA)
You would think that a car with:
4 doors..
4 cylinder..
the lowest price tag..
and the lowest displacement .. should be the cheapest right?
Well, apparently no. I hunted for cars last week, I test drove a 07 C6 Z06 with a price tag of about $75000 after the taxes, my insurance quoted me lower than the Evo 8 MR. I gave the insurance company the full VIN but still the Evo was more expensive.
The vette cost twice as much as the Evo
it is a truly coupe
and it has 8 cylinders with big displacement
I also got quoted for the BMW 335i which cost $48Gs(custom made with options) and some change after taxes and again it was cheaper despite being a:
coupe
having 6 cylinders
having a much higher market value
My Evo 8 MR was after all a 2.5 year old car so is not like when it was new which cost $38k out of the door.
Many people might not realize it but having a Evo comes with the "package" of high risk insurance factor I guess..

You have to look at the age group of the typical owner of the Evo vs someone driving a C7 Z06. The Evo is also ridiculously expensive to fix even when you have a fender bender. Plus there are a lot more claims made for Evos due to the high rate of theft.

The EVO is #1 on the top 10 list of costliest cars to insure...
I'm thinking about buying an EVO in June when my driving record is clean. I'm 21, will have 4 years of driving experience which will qualify me for "good driver" discount and I'm a good student. Got a quote from Esurance for $1200 for 6 months. Next year I can be a "preferred" driver if I keep my record clean. I also plan to take a defensive driving course which I hear can drop your rates another 4.5% but I'm not sure. I need to do more research on that.

Remember guys the Evo was not the most Stolen car but had the highest theft rate as in things stolen off of them or broken into.
I have Farmers Insurance and with full coverage for 6 monthes at 20 I'm paying $650 which will be going down again once I turn 21. I'm also currently looking into a low mileage option because I put just about less than 5k on my car a year even being my daily driver. Another thing worth looking into is whether your insurance company has any policys where you can record your driving for a set amount of time such as recording where you go to and from and writting down your mileage. I knew a guy who did this with State Farm and dropped his 6 month rate from $2000 to $1600 and for the next 5 years he got this bonus. I will also be looking into this.

I know this is a little bit off topic, but just curious.
Has anyone had usaa and after having a claim dealing with your evo they cancelled your policy? They havent done that to me yet, but I recently received a call from my policy underwriter. I had a slight fender bender, (busted light, bumper and hood) nothing wrong with the engine. They wanted to know if i had modded my car to improve performance and hp for racing. The answer to that is obviously no since its my everyday driver, but still alittle concerned.
