5th grear grind warrantee info plz!!!!

guys i need help. i developed a 5th gear grind the other day. it only grinds if you shift from 4th to 5th at 4k rpm or above. and its a very slight grind. but i know the grind will get worse. i have turbo back exhaust, , hks intake , forge diverter valve, mbc, safc2, hks 272 cams.

am i fu*ked? where can i go to have this looked at. i did get my wing replaced at glendale and they were really nice and greart. but i'm really geting worred about geting my warrantee voided cuz of my mods. but the mods of basically bot ons besides the cams and they really dont have anything to do with the tranny. right?? i'm at 24k miles and still on the stock clutch.

How many times are you going to ask the same question?
Your car is modded.
Your car is making over 300whp.
Your car making nearly 30hp more at the wheels than the car is rated at the flywheel.

How can you honestly expect Mitsu to warranty it? You play you pay.

ok fine
what would u say is voiding the warantee then?
i know a exhaust ok and a intake ok
i would also think an after market intercooler and intercoler pipe is ok

so the only think i see as being a problem are the cams and mbc
i can remove then with stock parts if need be

i'm just looks for options and opinions. i know there are lots of ppl that got stuff warranteed when they still got mods on their cars.

Take off mbc and safc, make sure you have a cat on the car. Bring a copy of the service bullitin.

If they call the district rep, good chance you'll get flagged. However they may still cover the repair.

I've had thw grind for over a year now. It hasn't got any worse.

We all know how terrible Mitsu is about warranties. Read the warranty thread and see what minor BS mods people have went in with only to get their warranty voided. one guy had a TC problems and they wouldn't cover it because he had a BOV. I mean honestly, you have WAY more mods including cams. If you went in with the car returned to stock to get covered for something the added power had a DIRECT affect on, I say its stealing. You mod it, you break it, you fix it. Its a chance anyone with mods takes. Do you think you are helping your fellow Evo owners when it comes to BS warranty claims? I think not.

Sorry if you take offense to my opinion but, theft by deception is ... theft.

Yeah, just take a copy of the TSB, and they should fix it if you're not beyond the warranty length.

You can find the TSB posted by me in a big TSB thread that I made.

when my 5th gear was grinding, the dealer refused to fix the problem due to the fact that my car is modded. I went and talked to the GM and explained the situation and he was understanding enough to not void my warrenty and take care of the whole problem. Some dealers are more understanding than other. Good luck.

Ball Mitsu down in S.D. replaced all the synchros in my tranny on 2 different occasions when I showed up with similar mods. Voided warranty on my motor but since tranny (clutch/flywheel) where still stock they still did the work under warranty.

theft>? your crazy. none of my mods have another to do with the transmission. and its mitsus fault for having such crappy transmission. 5th grear grind is a very common problem. and if you think about it its a defect because even if ppl drive the car hard, 5th gear is not normally used when people race. if any gears should go it should be 2-4th not 5th.

thanks warrtalon. i would a copy of the tsp and i will take it to the dealer and hopfully they will help me out. like i said the clutch is still stock and the tranny was never touched. the car is an 03 with 24k miles but i have the 5 year/60k miles power train warrantee still.

I guess the power the engine produces is transmitted to the wheels via fiber optic cable then? Get a clue.

your warranty will most likely be voided
because your motor is not stock, it makes more power, which put more stress on the whole drivetrain. its not a hard concept to grasp

I guess some of you don't know how syncros work.
Syncros slows down the next gear so you can shift smoothly w/ out grinding.
I don't care if you got 1000whp. Once your in gear you will not mess up the syncros.
It's just a manufacture defect hence the TSB for it.
