Checked it out for myself at 25 psi on straight pump he made 441/358!!!!! Why would you use the dominator over a 35R besides the fact it was probably discounted to you
On pump gas he made 380-390 with 330 wtq, is the dominator a better pump gas turbo than the 35R? His is a 2.3 so tq should def up but the difference in peak power is strange no?

why wouldn't the 2.3 help peak power?

isn't the 50 trim a 50lbs per minute turbo?

I don't think the dominator is a 50 lb per minute turbo. slightly more....

2.3 Just doesn't usually help peak power, in doing mine I gained 0 peak whp and 40 peak wtq!!! That was with a 3076, most of the big power cars are 2.0

In terms of "safe" redline? On a 2.0 the rod ratio is safe to all kinds of RPM's, I was revving to 8500, with the stroker Doug from TopSpeed has told me to keep it below 8 grand. Doug has the revlimit set at 8300 which is pretty much for 4th gear through the traps only, on the road course I keep it below 7 because there is no need to string it out because I am making full boost so early, I feel 7500 is safe for a stroker daily, I am not an expert, just from what I was told from my engine builder and tuner.

well no expert is needed... just what you're actually running and how that translated to dyno power.

i bring it up because people that take the appropriate mod path usually stick with a 2.0 for the first half of their car's life... after a flash tune or something similar you usually reach 8k +, on a stock turbo that just makes noise but then you do the turbo... get a number but when you go to stroked you go back down to 7.5 or so... and the story goes on.

Yeah, to me the stroker just moves the whole powerband to the left, but gets stopped sooner. If you drive your evo everyday and or you are not an all out drag racer you should do a stroker, imho.

hey guys...

in reference to our car.... we were having some issues with false knock because of rubbing on the car, and a massive 02 housing to downpipe leak which are both now fixed.

those pulls were on stock cams....

we just added GSC custom grind cams, and at 20.5-21.5 psi we are making 410-410 with torque over 320 from 4000-7800 rpm

Whoops, thats a lot of power Chad, similar to the S2's and if not how much different if you can/will disclose it?

p.s. Will an 02 housing to downpipe leak hurt power ?

It wasnt a matter of the power, it was giving me wacked AFR readings lol!! I have a wideband in the downpipe, and in our tip for the dyno....

---------

they are 271 degree cams according to greg, we had them built for the idea that we won tbe running cam gears!

Scorke, I'm using this turbo because I have a DSM flanged manifold, so the options are somewhat limited.

Ah gotcha, the round style that Buschur runs on his cast mani and FP runs on some of there hotsides? I hear lots of good things re spoolup and top end flow out of those circular flanges but have really only seen it out of the 3065 but that thing is a beast.

Good luck with doing something different!!!! Props for doing it.
