MR owners listen up, I dont know if it has been posted before but I did find one thread about what I'm going to say. All you MR owners need to check this out first. The installation done on our MR Gauges are pretty much a hack job as far as the boost hose and oil temp. wire goes.

I own a 2006.5 MR SE and put her up on the lift today and went ahead and removed the passenger side tire and fender lining and to my surprise I came across the exact same thing that you just read in the thread by Psquared. It was a hack job with some sort of putty like piece of gum covering the hole that was cut into the rubber boot. I took pictures and will post them up soon. The boost hose and wire for the oil temp. just dangle down. I went ahead and loomed the entire line and zipped tied em to the top. I then pulled the looming through the boot and used a black silicone type sealent all around the hole.

That sucks man! You would think with all the warranty claims Mitsubishi is having with EVO owners they would take more time and care to do the job right the first time. Good luck with fixing Mitsu's f*ck up!

I would suspect that the gauges in the MR are probably installed once it's in the US as part of a MMNA package to us Americans. It's probably installed by someone making just above minimum wage with minimal training and experience.

Its not that its a huge problem with the car but if left alone it can turn into one. Water damage can really mess things up inside the car and forget about just drying up the carpet because that wool underneath forget about, garbage. Its a quick fix and should not be looked over.

yeah when i was installing some stuff i took out the gauges. its a rats nest of wires behind them, when everything else in the car is super neat.

been there, did that.

see my posts in the above link. I solved the issue, no more leak or problems. It's just too bad that the Mitsu dealer service department I took mine to was too lame to diagnose and solve it the way I did myself. Which is why I do the most work I can on my cars all by my self.

Unless the tranny or motor asplode or the car falls apart rusted or spontaneously combusts, I have no reason to go back to a dealer.

Mine didn't look to bad. There was a mess of wires behind the guages though. But the wires were all ziptied up, and some good seam sealer plugged the hole.
