I am trying to decide whether to get the neon or the evo. i love the evo but if i cant mod itt and keep my warranty then whats the point of getting it. I dont wanna get the car and take everyone out of the whole and then have them cruise by me at 60.
what should i do????

srt4 and EVO are not even in the same class...
the Neon has alot of power and will go fast in straight line, but let's not even talk about handling...
srt4 is a great bang for the buck as far as power goes, but an EVO it's not...
As far as warranty...? you can add the Stage 1 kit and keep your warranty intact, but the Stage 2 kit throws your warranty out the window...

Those turbo'd Dodges are MEAN (high 13s!), and turbo lag is not really a big issue. But it does have its weak points: FWD, "rent-a-car" interior, tall shifter that feels like crap, etc.

Yes, you "could" spend $8k more into a Neon - but then you'd have a Neon you put $8k too much into on top of the horrid depreciation of those cars. Unless you're Joe Cool who can honestly say he's going to keep the Neon forever, it's not worth that kind of mod money. Also, I have my doubts that with 8k you'd be able to bring the SRT up to the handling, acceleration, reliability and "cool" factor of the Evo (admit it, it's got a damn nice cool factor ).

Like everyone has said, the SRT-4 and EVO are two totally different cars. If you want to go fast for the least amount of money, then get the SRT-4. If you want a car that handles like a world class rally car, then get the EVO.
True, it doesn't take much in the way of mods to spank an EVO with an SRT-4 from a roll. And I believe a Stage 1 SRT-4 cleaned house in 1-Lap of America, which included WRX's, EVO's and even a Lamborghini. Crazy.
I wouldn't knock either car. They are both amazing vehicles for the money.

I have saw a guy get his *** kicked in his SRT-4 by a Mazda6 V6...
Sometimes it's not just the HP, it's the driver!
I would take a Lancer EVO any day versus a Dodge SRT-4.
The Dodge SRT-4 is an econobox with a powerful motor. The Evo is more a like a perfect car
My 2 cents

ok people I raced an srt4 from 30 mph and from a slow roll.
Beat him both times and he has a mustang drag car so he does
know how to drive. On the hwy I pulled ahead a few cars and
from the slow roll the same, in fact I missed 3rd and still beat
him by a car and half, the best part was I slowed and my freind
yelled brake check when we were side be side and I stopped way
shorter than him. But they are faster than my wrx was. It must
of been a hell of a mod to the evo, and I did respect those cars
more once I raced him.

You guys, I swear! The stock Evo is not a "fast" car per se... reasonablely quick yes. Quick enough to always "destroy" the SRT 4, well who knows. Since everyone is comparing apples to oranges here, The wife handed me my *** three for three this mourning in her SC 4 door Integra GSR... from a stand still! Yes with a 5-6k slip launch I would jump way off the line, but she'd have me reeled in within 50 yards. Her 250 whp 2700lb car vs my drowning in fuel 271 crank hp 3500lb car (Zeus gos 240lbs)... It's funny that It didn't hurt my feelings that she won(I built the car), but it seems to cut other Evo owners to the bone to consider that a "Neon" with over 50 ft lbs more torque than her's might pull out a win once in a while...
Funny people!

well. put it this way-- do you want fwd or awd? fwd turbo..or awd turbo? meh driving experience or totally great driving experience? go test drive the two cars..i mean, if youre going for the straight like domination-go for the neon, but if you want a driving experience, check out the evo..
