Lancer Evolution vs. Evo 8

What are the spec differences between the US Lancer Evolution and the JDM Evo 8? I'm talking about the engine only. Thanks.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance. So the JDM engine seems better?

Hmm.... is this a trick question?

I admit that I'm no expert in USDM Evo, but from what I've heard/read, the engine is THE SAME.

Differences in power come from the ECU, to accommodate lower octane fuel and tougher emissions.

Somebody please smack me on the head if this is wrong info.

I think the weight difference is because Japan rates curb weight different than the US. I think they do theirs fully empty while we do ours topped off with all fluids and ready to roll. So this would include gas, oil, brake fluid, and coolant. That should account for most of the difference.

Also tack on a few extra pounds for our crash beams in the car. Shiv took the front and rear beams off his Evo and it saved something like 16lbs total I think.

I think this should account for most of the differences in weight.

I thought ours weighed more because of more saftey beams in the front of the car, don't know though. Just what I heard. Have there been any tests to compare the two just for ****s n giggles.
