Harnesses are illegal without roll bars
The harness would limit their movement side to side so if the roof caved in, they couldnt move down or to the side very well which could break their necks
the harness wouldnt have kept the car from rolling
I dont think it rolled because the pillars look reasonably straight
of course they were cut by the jaws of life

I didn't know it was illegal anywhere to have a harness without a rollbar. I have a Simpson in my focus without any bars or caging and here in Texas it's legal.
What neck of the woods are you in, so I can make note to use the factory decapitator in those parts?

Legal or otherwise there is very importany geometry that needs to be followed for a harnes to work properly. Ignoring this geometry can cause more harm than good depending on the crash type and angle. Check out any of the competition regulations (i.e. SCCA) on the geometry of a harness. The shoulder belts especially are supposed to come from a horizontal position even with the openings on the back of the seat. Otherwise the impact pushes you down in the seat rather than holding you back against it.
In a street car with no cage or bar that means the attach point would have to be somewhere above the top of the back seats. Possible but not conducive to back seat passengers. Also if attached wrong with the wrong kind of hardware the harness is also more dangerous. I've seen people attach them to seat posts and then had the bolts sheared right off on impact.
I think people do it for the look and I'm afraid the Recaro's may encourage that. I hope they are all ok, but the blood and loose sneaker don't look good.

Judgeing from the pics all four rims are in good condition. I wonder if they are for sale. They dont even have break dust on them. I wondering if your selling any of them.
