Yeah, but unfortunately, their valid defense is that they came like that stock. That excuse for them is b. s., either way.

APS exhaust makes decent power and isn't too loud. It is pretty expensive tho.

The ticket would be hard to fight being that Cali doesnt have the "i'll change the ticketed part back to stock and they will get rid of the ticket thing" and being that its your word against theres ehhh... but good luck !

Okay, here's the deal. A member brought up a good point about a decibel meter. The problem is you cannot take a 'true' reading pulled over on the side of the road because of other ambient noises, sounds, etc. It would need to be checked for loudness at a smog referee, which you don't really want to go to unless you are forced to. Another option you have is to pay the bail amount. It should be around $100. For some people, it is worth a $100 to pay a fine and leave everything as is and save valuable free time. Also, you could get a silencer tip--Tanabe has them-- and modify it to fit in your exhaust tip. Rob you of power, but much quieter. Good luck. If it was me, I'd pay the damn fine and be done with it.

silencer tips do help alot.... But, if you feel like making a cop look supid take it to court and make a case on him not testing your exhaust with a decibel meter. Here in Florida there was a law for exhaust noise. I think it was if your exhaust decibel was over 110 dbs from 50 or 100 feet away then it was to loud. I really can not remember.

I recently got the HKS Hi Flo catback installed. I think it's quieter than espelir catbacki had previously. The midpipe has a resonator and is ceramic coated with a ss can.

RRE Stealth Exhaust?

3 in all the way and no cop will ever think it is not stock.

You can also combine that with RRE Rally cat for stealth look all the way

In CA the officer does not have to use any type of sound measuring device. He just uses his best judgement. It doesnt matter about the other exhaust's that are louder than yours. You are breaking the law period.

Put your stock exhaust on and go to the ref for the sound test. You didnt state, but you probably got a ref ticket for the exhaust.

I love how people from other states talk all kinds of tough crap on the internet about what they would do if they got pulled over. You dont live in this state and you are obviously ignorant of CA laws.
