I love how people from other states talk all kinds of tough crap on the internet about what they would do if they got pulled over. You dont live in this state and you are obviously ignorant of CA laws.

I heard that CA cops can't give you illegal modification tickets, only CHP since they are the ones who have had official DRAGnet training. Every time I have been pulled over by CHP (2 times), I got a ref ticket.

The fact of the matter is for some people it is worth fighting a ticket. For others(like myself) it is a waste of time--especially for something as small and frivolous as a modified exhaust. I would lose probably three hours at least during a peak time in a weekday to go to court and fight a ticket. The lost worktime would be the same amount I'd pay for the fine not to mention the headache of dealing with those sharp as a tack court employees, wasted gas driving to court, etc.

I mean, going to court to fight a ticket is like being picked for jury duty, a waste of time and money--no one really wants to do it. But if the person feels like fighting, I wouldn't hold it against them. I just wouldn't contemplate going to court unless it threatened the livelyhood of my car, like being sited for street racing or maybe having an illegal engine. My .02.

It's not what you thought it was, if you think it is you're a bigger idiot than you make yourself out to be.

Yes if that was my lifestyle I chose it, were you born retarded or did you have to practice hard to make yourself seem like such an idiot?

You have brought up a good question. I did get a fix it ticket from an LAX Airport cop recently, but it was just for no front plate. I have received at least four fix it tickets over the years and they have all been written up by the CHP. And the last one was for an illegal engine------>smog ref.

Does anyone else living in California have any information regarding this?

Pay the 50-60 dollar ticket, keep your mods the way they are and move on. Why fight it you'll pay at least 30 dollars in court fees maybe more. and then if you loose its your ticket plus court fees so just pay it ahead of the court date. Why change the mods it happened to me like 2 years ago and I changed nothing and it never happened again of course we live in different places but most likey its not someting they are trying to crack down on.
