Mitsu was going to warranty my rusted trunk...
But they somehow managed to slither out of another warranty claim. If you guys remember my last thread about removing my spoiler and finding rust underneath...
This is the email I received today in regards to my claim to Mitsubishi to repair the rust on my IMMACULATE car, AFTER I was already told they were going to honor it.
> Bill,
After reviewing both your picture and my own, I'm curious as to whether
that is the original paint? I have records of your vehicle in both "Apex
Silver" and "Cool Silver Metallic". If the car was repainted, in most
cases, the bodyshop will stand behind their work "for life". As I'm told
the deck lid is aluminum, rust is impossible. Sadly, it appears that I
will be unable to provide any assisstance in this matter.
Thanks for Your Time,
Jeff
Is there a color that I was unaware of all this time?

Aluminum doesn't rust - it corrodes.
And the deck lids aren't alum - as mentioned in the first reply.
I'd see where they are getting their facts from. Ontop of that, if you DID have body work, show them that it was in another area of the car (if it was), and if it wasn't, the body shop should warranty it.

Tell Jeff to take a magnet to the rear deck-lid to "support" his aluminum theory. BS. Stick it to this jerk, obviously since he listed two awful excuses he is just hunting for the ability to deny the claim.
Take this conversation to Mitsus US branch and let them know how there dealers/area reps are dealing with warranty claims. Mitsu is trying to improve their image, this kind of ridiculous crap doesnt help.

Maybe all of us with this rust issue should send pictures of the same exact problem to this guy. My car's an '04 with only 20k on it and I've got a big rust spot under the driver's side of the wing. I've got a friend that has an '03...same rust spot. It's like the guy has never heard of this problem before.

Check mitsubishiparts.net. Part Number for the Silver Paint code for Both Lancer and Evo is MZ312883. Colors with Evo and Lancer are the Same with Black, White, Red, Yellow, and Gray they just have different names for them...So I would have that Jeff guy go back and do his job right and fix your problem. Also tell him to do his own job and not let his customers do it for him...
Edit: Also my opinion is that when you took the car in for service (if you ever did) the tech must have wrote in Cool Silver thinking yours was a Lancer (same PC however) and inputed into their system...
