From VIII to IX how loud is MIVEC???
I just picked up a IX 2 weeks ago and I have to ask if you guys noticed a difference in noise level at about 3500 rpm and up?
The change is dramatic I have to say unless there is something wrong with my car.
I quess that is the mivec working but on the other hands it souds like a one big constant knock.
Is that what it sounds like???
Thanks for your help

Lately, I've heard alot of people on this forum, talking about that noise on the IX.
When I test drove a IX, I didn't hear any noise.
Of course I drove the demo real hard.
Maybe that's why I didn't hear anything but the exhaust.

you musta have been a honda owner,,,,,it's not like the original Honda-Vtec noisewise where you can actually hear the engine engaging and breathing.
now, going back to mivec i have the IX and there is no high noises at 3k or either at 3,5k or higher its a smooth transition you hardly notice it
go and test drive a new one from a different dealer from where you bouaght youre and see if there is any difference

One Vtech will be louder most of the time because both cams activate at the same time, when mivec only does one. Also most V Techs are NA so no turbo to keep um quiet.
As far as I know I cant tell if Mivec is louder or not.
