I met and beat my first evo
I have been the only evo in my area since march. So on the local drag import night alot of people came up to race. So on my way to applebee's I past a bby evo 8. I pulled a wicked uturn and chatted with the guy. He said he was going up there to the drags so I decided to go as well. I was excited to see another one on the road.
We had a nice battle at the track. he launched better than I did but I caught him and passed him. It may have been his first drag experience in the car. He had only had it 3 weeks.
I ran a 13.7 and he ran a 14.1ish.
I aslo beat a newer camaro ss with 2- 13.7 runs. he was 14 and 13.9. great races though.
It was 90+ degrees so the times were not great, but it was good fun. I really enjoyed racing another 8 it was neck and neck. But I am still king dingaling in my area. I am stock, but hope to have HKS exhaust this month.

Every time I shifted I gained on him and then passed him. My first 2 gears I shift on instinct after that I went a hair passed redline in third and I cross the finish at a little less than 6000 in fourth. His 60 ft was 1.8 and mine was 1.9 but I cought him and beat him. I dont know why either. as for applebee's yes it would have been good, but beating another owner was better.

I would love to race another evo. Have seen many not a chance yet. I can't believe you beat him if he had the start . I know if I was in the lead off the line and cars were the same I would and could not lose.

Not every car is created the same, either way I either was shifting better, or my car just has a little more.

He could be suffering from the same problem I have which is the 1-2 shift. I launch hard on people at the track with 1.8's all day only to miss 2nd and get passed. Missing 2nd makes a HUGE difference in a 1/4mi.
