Alright, so long story short here.

I heard some knocking when i was driving my evo ix the other day so i took my car to the dealer. They said it has spun bearings and needs an entire new shortblock and an oil pump and its going to cost me $6100 to fix it. I am just trying to sell the car so the question is, will i get the money back if i get it fixed or should i just sell it as is?

I am not sure where i would sell it if it wasn't in working condition or how much it would be worth. Any opinions or thoughts would be awesome...im kinda in quite a pickle here...

dud i got the smae problem but the said 7g's preivious owner ran with low oil and they oided my warrenty

You could sell it. But your gonna lose a lot of profit. Depends on miles. No more then 19k evo ix with blown motor

You wont get ---- with a blown motor, I would think at least 10k less then if it was running and everyone will think the rest of the car was abused as well...

If no warranty, put a Buschur or AMS motor in it and use that to your advantage selling it.

Fill it up with gear oil, tow it 2 blocks from another dealer and trade it in.

I would do a In Chassis build, if the Crank is ok and needs to be polished, new bearings, rods and pistons.

There are lots of choices here. Some are morally just wrong but if you have no morals you could do them.

The right thing is to either get a new shortblock and do the work yourself, have a shop do it, or sell the car with the problem making the buyer aware.

Personally I would buy a short block and put it in myself. If not then a shop, never the dealer they are overpriced!

I won't even post the ****ty ways to fix it to get you out of this situation as they are not right for the potential owner.

A guy out here in Indy spun a rod bearing, blew a hole in the block, AND cooked the turbo. It is an '03 with 50K miles on it. THEY ARE WARRANTING it!!! NOT the dealership he bought it at, but another Mitsu dealer to the south of where he lives. I would SERIOUSLY consider pushing the warranty issue. I thought there was a "factory" flaw in the bearings anyhow.

Were you trying to sell it BEFORE this happened? Or sell it just because of the spun bearing?

Catice, it depend on what you want to do. Recently the entire engine with turbo, intake manifold,alternator , injectors and all that kind of stuff was on sale from Mitsubishi as a whole engine assy for less than $6000.

Try the warranty first, if not, trade it in for something. Some dealers don't even drive the car. We just sold a Evo 9 with no clutch and the dealer did not even bother to test drive it. Oh weel.

just depends on your morals to be honest. I was busting your chops...but if the warranty does not work, you CAN try trading it as is. or selling it outright, but if you sell outright, i am sure someone will be knocking on your door in a week.
