Wheel Sizing

Hey everyone, this is probably the most rookie question on this forum but, I really need/want to know.

when people say they got new wheels, and other people as them what size??
they usually respond by "oh its 18x8.5 +28"
I figured the 18 (inches) is the diameter of the wheel.
I can guess what the 8.5 is, but I have no clue what the +28 means

can someone help a brother out??

Do people not know that Google exists...or Ask.com...or search engines in general? Just curious why people are so helpless when the Internet has so much information.

^^^ cause they expect you to be their guide!!! I use google even for spell check!!

28 is the offset, no car has the same offset, brakes, hubs, wheel size all play a part. Spacers make up offsets as well, so if you wanted a 33 offset get a 5mm spacer. Good luck!
