i'd check the left blinker tray assembly gauge. It tends to go bad after about 45000 miles and is terrible on pot holes.

nah, actually if u bottomed out hard enough to pop something off... id do what others have suggested and either take off the upper and lower IC pipe and reclamp them down and see if you get any different results.

hopefully you didn't hit hard enough to jar your exhaust/turbo and get alot of shaft play. I know when you get shaft play, the turbo will sound almost like a supercharger whine. Happened to my old GST

Sounds like dirt or debris got into a bearing of some sort....whether its any one of the pully bearings or what not....i know from experience that even an idler pulley bearing SCREAMS when it goes bad

Same thing happen to me.. I hit something small that a truck left behind in the highway causeing minor damage to my front bumper and ever since. It sounds like a supercharger from the boost build to the end along with turbo hissing noise.( i have aftermarket intake) I also don't have undertray checked it out but no visual damage or leak to the piping.

I took it to Turbotrix and they said it's most like my turbo going out since I boost more than 28 psi on stock turbo or leak in my piping somewhere. I will be changing the front bumper so I'll found out exactly where it's coming from.

yeah i had BOTH turbos go at once on my supra and it does sound similar to a supercharger whine but its very different. first, when the turbo is gone and its whining, it has so much play the fins are scrapping the housing so it will not boost much(certainly not 20 psi). second, someone who is following u will see alot of gray smoke (oil blow-by) as your trying to boost.

i doubt its your turbo.....

Well im about to start to try and figure out what happened. My Girlfriend made mention of alot of smoke coming out of my exhaust, black smoke from what she said, i hope thats just a rich condition. If there is shaft play i will be able to take the intake off and move the impeller of the turbo, right? Also if this is the case, and i hit the exhaust hard enough when i bottomed out should there be some substantial damage to the exhaust?

u will feel the 'looseness' if its bad. also there will be alot of oil in the turbine housing probably.

If it sounds like a "dentist drill" then the turbo is blown, the shaft is off balance enough that the spinning blades create turbulence in the air which leads to a high pitched whine. Someone once described it to me as a million screaming babies in their engine bay. If that sounds right, its blown.

I have the intake off. There is a little bit of play, not much though. There is no shaft movement in and out, just up and down. There is no oil at all. I think it is safe to assume that it is not my turbo at this point. The shaft play is less than 1\2 a millimeter.
05 Evo RS i was thinking it could be the bov. Hows Albany i was in SUNY for a few years....good times

Mine was the result of debris and the blades were damaged. How are the blades?

The blades looked to be ok. My down pipe and my intercooler pipe attached to the turbo got ROCKED. No holes though. I need to go make a boost tester and see if there is a leak. I am praying it is not my tubro that is the problem

If you bottom out, how could it be your turbo - check all pipes, clamps, do the boost leak test. take the bumper off - check everything under.

btw the car started to make sounds after you bottom it out? or after few miles.

You are going to find a boost leak somewhere. You either cracked a weld somewhere or messed up a clamp. Don't see how the turbo could be shot.

IF you knocked youe IC pipes loose, you still get boost. But the turbo have to work harder to achieve that boost. That's probably the SC whine you hear.
