Forgive me if I sound negative, but I am seeing 1.5 bar as early as 5800? If boost was set at 2.0 bar is looked like it would reach that boost around 6200? That would be very laggy for anything other than a race car. Looks like typical big turbo lag to me. 35R can reach 2.0 bar at 4300 without divided manifold setup.

Its posts like these that get people all hyped up to get a big laggy turbo. then after they spend a furtune setting up a big turbo they find its really not very enjoyable at all. Then they want to just sell the car.

The car would be far more potent with 35r turbo. Not knocking shearer here. He makes awesome manifolds. Just get sick of people buying a bigger turbo than they need then not being happy.

Right, I'm sure you know a lot more about turbos, tuning, and racing than Simon Norris. I thing the point of this whole thread the boost response. 0-1.5 bar happens almost instantaneously.

I do, but it’s with his old GT40 on the manifold.

And yes, it is the same off the self manifold you can call in and purchase right now.

Anywhere from 200-500rpm quicker, depending on the turbo/turbine you are comparing (T3, T4, T6....)

And yes, the SF GT42 we use comes in a divided turbine housing.

BANG ON MATE!!! you only have to see just how quick this BIG turbo motor gets to 1.5 bar (this is only the low boost setting, running 2.2 the car is all over the place!! sooo much power). all he has to do is keep the RPM above 4K. thats not that hard!

and, for the last time i hope, Norris's engine get the turbo up to FULL (2.7bar!!) by 5K. in the vid of his engine on the dyno it makes OVER 700lbsft by 4940rpm!

jp@shearerfab i checked out your site and OMG you guys do some amazing work! i see why norris is using your stuff.

Chris.

Then we must be watching two different videos. I am not seeing a fast spooling turbo. stabbing the throttle at those rpms with 35r would result in boost response 4 times faster than that 42r. I have built enough 35r and 67r cars to know that. Obviously it is you who lack any real world experience.

JP, any idea at what rpm a 35r with your divided manifold will spool at on a 2.0 Evo IX (MIVEC)? this could be interesting...

Does launching and turning, like I see Norris cars always do, take less toll on transfer case and drivetrain parts?
