yet another totaled Evo...
another totalled Evo here in NY. Some kid wrapped a Blue Evo around a light pole on the Saw Mill river parkway. Rolled over and looks as if noone survived. Im sorry for their families. Im pissed at how some guys are treating these cars. There goes the f*ck@ng insurance rates. Some tend to beleive that because of AWD, ABS, AIRBAGS and racing heritage, the EVO will handle anything. I said it before and I'll say it again, too many young kids that have no real experince with high performance, ultra sensitive and responsive cars, are getting Evo's and are ruining for the rest. Of course I dont mean every young guy, just the great majority. Its sad when you see these cars being driven by someone that has their license for a couple years. I just hope more responsibility is used when buying these cars (as well as other fast cars-StI..).

It won't affect premiums for a while, but its really sad to hear about these stories. I heard them way too often regarding the WRX and the same is going to happen with the EVO and eventually the STi.

F%$@in Insurance Companies!
Have to rate the cars in some way, and accident rate is a decent way.
It will also bump the rates for that age group, which is another huge factor.
I bought my Hayabusa when it came out in 1999 and have rode bikes for over 15 years. Same thing happened with them. Kids with no clue how to ride and no fear went out and killed themselves and others.
It's just sad that it seems another life may have been lost, which was probably avoidable.

anybody have pictures of the evo
from what i have seen from other pictures it seems that the evo has maintained its body intregrity pretty well
i would like to see about this crash
im 17 also and i know very well of what the car is capable of but i dont intend to find out where its limits are on the street
I will be taking driving courses this summer to improve my driving
hopefully i can go to Mid-Ohio and take some there.
Anybody in the ohio area have any suggestions which course i should take?
But this is sad for this kid and his family

My insurance rate with $500 deductable and full coverage was $310 for 6 months on the EVO, this seemed VERY VERY low to me since I pay over $100 more every 6 months for my Camaro... I think that my EVO insurance rates will likely double when I get my next bill from all these wrecks and accidents!!
It's almost gotten to the point that we need a "graduated" license system like they use in Europe. There kids can only drive motorcycles and such of specific engine size and output power. HAHAHAHA MAJOR OWNAGE!! We really don't need another govrenment beaurocracy, but if the parents are so dumb sh%t stupid as to buy their kids an insane sportscar for their 16th birthday, well then maybe we do need a new government program. Geo Metros for all 16 year olds!

I now pay 644 every 6 months for 100/300 coverage. It just went down from 783 yesterday because one of my points came off my record. I'm hoping that it doesnt double or triple because of these wrecks we read about weekly now!!

This is similar to my S2000.... when i first got one in late 1999 it was about $400 per year for me for full coverage...... now the same car is about $650 per year for me...... the insurance companies originally didn't catch on to the Horsepower and the idiot drivers.... but they figured it out now.
I would guess the same with the Evo.... My evo is $400 per year now... i would expect it to go to $650 in a year or so.
