As a prospective buyer of either an Evo or STi, this is one of the reasons I lean towards an STi, it has side airbags for side impacts like this accident. For this reason and a few others I'm definitely leaning towards the STi. Not to turn this into Evo vs. STi, but almost every car out there these days has side airbags, I'm not sure why Mitsu hasn't put them in the Evo yet. Maybe the X will have them.
I think EvoX comes with side curtain airbags as standard if ime not mistaken (who knows). I think thats the reason why they stopped getting evo's in 2007. Correct me if ime wrong but the government is requiring that import cars need to have side curtain airbags starting 2007.

Glad your OK! i recently was in an accident where some one ran a red light and crashed head on into me in my old car broke alotta bones in my face, i hate America's ****ty drivers....sorry about your crash, definitely sue, thats what i did so i bought an evo lol.

ya lol it knocked your boxers off hopefully you'll be fine man when i wrecked mine i had 4 months of therapy **** like this reminds us no matter how good we drive it's all on other ppl
