Evo 7 or Evo 8? Decisions
Im very excited that the evolution was finally launched in the united states. I have been waiting for this moment a long time. Sad part is due to my Insurance i wasn't able to pick one up this year at launch cause it would have been murder on my money. So Im waiting till the end of next summer to pick up my Evolution the only problem is im not so sure what to pick up a US Spec Evo 8 or a JDM New or Used Evo 7. As much as im happy that the Evo 8 was launched in the US I was really leaning more Toward the Evo 7 GSR imported by Evolution Imports but im not sure which im gonna go for. Please post your opinions and thoughts on this.

Just get the 8. I don't know why people here make a big deal about the ACD and AYC if they haven't driven it before. I can't say that I've driven a Evo7, but from the experiences of many Evo7 owners, they don't think its all that great.

I'd definiately say the 8. The only thing about a 7 that is good is the fact that it has ACD/AYC. Well, guess what, there are drawbacks to that as well. Supposedly those systems break a LOT and have a good time trying to find someone to service it, or parts for it.
All dealers will have parts for the Evo 8. Good luck finding some who will have parts or be willing to work on an Evo 7. Plus, you need to fight with registration and all the emissions crap as well.
In the end, it's not worth it. Plus, you'll miss out on all the new advancements that the 8 has made and you will have a full manufacturer warranty, where you will have squat with a 7.
I just don't understand why anyone would want a 7 when they can get an 8 now.

Id say tha 7. Im jus saying that for the look tho, im really obsessed with it lol.
Though once its comes to convenice and peice of mind that it can be looked cared for, serviced easily I would say go with the 8.
YOu got to ask yourself,
Do you know places that can service the 7
Do you have enough money/time/connections etc. to get parts and such from Mitsu. Japan.
Whatever you get though, congrats

Im pretty sure im gonna go with the 7 all the way i just like it more than 8 it appeals more to me the Evo 8 just looks like it has something missing. The 7 seven just seems to appeal alot more to me than the 8 so as of now im going 7 but by next summer my choice might change. keep posting you thoughts.

Plus that one dude in singapore, im not sure if he made his decision yet, but he had an evo VII GSR and now drives an evo VIII GSR, said there was not much difference. (Not his exact words) of course tranny was different, ayc, etc.
How bout the time when the evo VII hype was around. I forgot what magazine it was but they said the evo VII was a beast and a great street car.
Plus i thought many of the aftermarket parts for the evo VIII are available for the evo VII? Dont they basically have the same exact things except for ACD and AYC?
The only bad thing i can think about is legal issues. Evolution Imports says they are legal and will be ready for shipping but its not true. As you see there are many evo VII owners in the U.S. waiting for their evo VII's.
Oh yea...im not tryin to grill you man...alright? so dont take it too personal
