Similar topic,
Is it just my car or do you guys have to pull the E-brake entirely up for it to hold the car totally. For instance if its not a click or two from the top position will your car roll slightly?

Manual says 5-7 clicks should engage the parking brake fully.

I always put my parking brake on and leave it in 1st unless I'm facing downhil, in which case I leave it in reverse. The most important thing to remember is to let the car settle on the parking brake in neutral, then shut the car down, wait for the engine to fully stop rotating, then put it in gear. This saves the transmission from staying in a loaded state the entire time it is parked. This is also the correct way to leave a car in 'park'. I can't stand when people put a car in park and let the weight of the car settle on the transmission. That's what the parking brake is for!

I've been using the e-brake only since day 1, but i've noticed now that I have to pull the e-brake all the way up to hold the car on a steep hill. Now I put the load on the e-brake and put it in gear.

Does anyone know if leaving the car in gear without the e-brake can put stress on the tranny and ruin something?

Can't help...gravity is a constant force, so whatever stress is on the few teeth holding your car in place at the time is the same from the moment you park until the moment you leave...whatever the amount of damage (if any) is done, why do it at all when it can be completely avoided?

remote start in an Evo ??? FWIW ebrake & in gear all the time . If you don't use the ebrake all winter long you run the risk of having those high quality mitsu cables get frozen with salt and rust build-up , my humble .02 .

Ouch, the misuse of the word "there" twice within four words hurts my eyes. Follow that with "manually car," and I'm writhing in pain. Yeesh, today's kids...

I don't leave my Evo in 1st gear anymore, because I unplugged the clutch starter switch, so I no longer need to push in the clutch pedal to start the car. Therefore, I need the car out of gear in order to do this. I will put it in gear if I'm on a hill, of course, but that's rare.

I live in South Florida where everything is flat so this question doesn't really apply to me. That being said, if it were to be towed I would want it to be as easy as possible.

That's how mine was, but I adjusted it. Search the how-to section for it. It made a huge difference for me. It's much tighter and I have confidence in it now, so I leave it in neutral almost always now.
