Stupid chick backed into my car...
Some dumb chick backed into my parked car and tried to pretend like nothing happened, even though she lives in my apartment complex and the damage was clearly done by her car (trailer hitch with my paint still on it). Anyways she admitted fault, and me being the nice guy that I am I decided not to press hit and run charges and even not go through insurance if she didn't want to.
Anyways, in the event that she wants to go through her insurance and not pay me out of pocket... how does that work? I already got professional estimates, but I probably won't get it fixed there. Body shop estimate is about 1400. I have a hookup for a new bumper from another apex silver evo that got an aftermarket one, that I'm paying cash for. Will her insurance company write me a check for the amount of the estimate, or do I need to provide reciepts and documentation that I actually got it fixed there?

They will write out a check to either you or the repair shop.
U must be a great guy, cause if someone hit and ran on me and i found out later... i would so file charges. My idea is, she obviously didnt think it was a big deal to hit a car and run, and her being caught and still not having to face any legal repremand, she will continue to live life thinking she can do that to others... wich is just wrong and ghetto as hell. I would file charges so that maybe she wont do it to someone else later on! IMO

well when my mom hit my friends car that was parked and then left we reported it to the insurance company they sent a guy out to do an estimate and then after that they wrote a check in my friends name and then he cashed it had it done for half the price and then spent the rest on a sound system. But otherwise the insurance company can use their body shop if u would rather do that.

Yes they will just write you a check based off the estimate. Sometimes the insurance company has their own guy come out and estimate it and write you a check based off that. So if you take it in to get fixed and it cost more the repair shop would have to work with the insurance company to get more money out of it by provide what else needed to get fixed. I know because I have been rear ended 3 times when I had my Civic Si, which is one of the reason why I traded it for the evo 2 years ago.

Go through her insurance. Wouldn't you do that if it was some guy in a Ford F-150who did this? I think so, I know I would. F that broad and go through the insurance and who cares what she thinks about it.

I've been burned before by trying to be nice like you are right now. My window was broken, and door severly damaged. He was cool until I told him how much it was, he couldn't understand how it cost 900 dollars for a hole new door, window, and paint mathcing. And that was from a friend of the family's shop, with the hookup. He ended up not having insurance and I had to pay my deductible out of pocket. At least he can't get another license in this state until he pays the deductible. From now on I will always cover my own ***. (nice guys finish last)

Not sure what was damaged on your car, but look at getting aftermarket parts an opposed to stock ones. It looks like you already located a bumper but you might be able to get aftermarket parts for the same cost.
For example, you can probably pick up a painted JDM rear bumper for less than the cost of getting a new stock one painted.
You get new parts, she saves $$, win-win.
