try changing the battery in your remote as a first step.

oddly enough, i took the car out for lunch, and after parking at the restaurant and back at work, there were no issues. sound is gone and remote is good. any ideas?

battery or your remote has a loose connection/bad button...you know how on a TV remote when the batteries are low.. you have to hit it or roll the batteries and it works again....same thing here I'm guessing.
