The day that they come out with a GT35R kit that can spool/response like stock turbo, that's when I'll get mine.

^^^ you should be able to get damn close with a twin-scroll 35R and VF intercooler kit, especially if you have a 2.3L

A 2.4L 4G64 Mivec powered twin scroll GT35 will spool just like a stock turbo or very close to it. It you really want good spool, fab up your own variable geometry turbine kit. (or steal one from a porsche)

this coupled with a 2.3 stroker would be just plain sick...

Maybe if ti had a 50-shot to spool it up. I don't think anything would spool as fast as the Stock 16G.

I agree with sonic, a 2.3 or 2.4 with a TS 35R should get pretty close to the stock spool of a VIII.

Who puts out a twin scroll 35R? When I saw the 40 kit I was thinking it would be perfect for me if it was a 35R instead.

Don't count on it. The 35R is more then DOUBLE the size, you would probably need a 4.0 to get the 16G snappy-ness you desire. Anyone advertising a 35R spooling like stock is basically a Liar when it comes to the 4G63 UNLESS you are talking about including a Chemical Supercharger or Anti-lag. Other then that, don't count on it.

But don't let that discourage you. Even while it is spooling up, it has more power then a maxxed out stock turbo.

AMS has spooled their GT35R kit to 20psi by 3800rpm with a 2.3 liter stroker kit, which is only 300rpm later than stock. There is also this British guy with an Evo 7 that spooled his GT35R to 20psi by 3600rpm with 2.4 liter stroker kit, only 100rpm later than stock.

So with twin scroll in both of those engine set-ups (2.3 and 2.4) it is very likely that you can spool a GT35R even closer to stock.

I have no proof, I am only basing my assumptions off of data that I've seen put together from many different setups. I do know that Mivec, an extra .4 liters of displacement, and a twin scroll manifold will decrease turbo lag significantly.

Here is a thread of a 2.4L 4g64 evo with Mivec equipped with a GT40R turbo:

Here is his dynograph:

You have to admit, this is one quick spooling 40R. The power is very linear, and peak power is obtainable without reving past the 8k mark. Simply amazing. This is WITHOUT a twin scroll manifold/turbine housing. In this instance, the turbo is able to be spooled quicker because of the Mivec and .4L of extra displacement. Only time will tell how much a twin scroll setup will be able to add to the equation. My guess is that it will allow a very stock like GT35 spool up (if equipped to a mivec powered 4G64).

Here the link to the Evo 7 with a 2.4 liter stroker and AMS GT35R kit. Scroll down to look at the graph.

you are also forgetting that not just the added displacement but the shorter rod ratio increases the VE's down low...that is the big kicker in the spool up game
