It does have benefits, but it is not a necessity for your car to run, it is a 30k car but i dont think that a plastic undertray makes or breaks the car... and it isnt gonna jack anything up unless you are driving around offroad, and or trying to control the groundhog population with your damn car!

Not to step on you foot but what the hell does that mean?? high horse power cars don't have it and they run fine. Yes it helps with cooling and areo as well but taking the tray of is not going to make worlds of difference. Engine bay gets dirty but brakes and tranny do not over heat. All i'm saying is to each his own and just because someone takes off the tray does not mean they trea their car like it's 5k.
That makes no sense at all

search and you will find why you need it. nothing to do with HP.
if you work on your car weekly and not a daily driver + not a track car/road track/
then you can use it withouth the undertray. but if you at least one of those ,i would recommend it.
But it is your call , its your car.
i actually got the Beatrush one, because its stronger then factory + it has more clearence for after market parts.

Uhh theres a hole in your hood. LOL

It does add some protection but if definately does not make or break a 30k car especially the EVO of all cars. It wasnt made to look pretty. It was made to tune and tweak. Hek man I took a wiz wheel to the bumper to get my IC pipes to fit how I wanted them.

I did not mean to say it was a horespower thing. I know what it does since this is not my first performance car. I was trying to get what the other person meant by saying " don't treat it like a $5k car" That makes no sense. I have mine off right now but will be getting the beatrush one in the future. my car is not a daily driver so i could get away with more than the average person. I just say it's your car do what ever you want.

The underpanel is a must, not only for aerodynamics and proper cooling but for protection under the engine bay. I recommend having either the stock piece on or the Beatrush underpanel. If the stock piece is too much of a hustle, the Beatrush one will provide better aerodynamics and cooling efficiency, more room for aftermarket mods, and greater protection for all essential parts under the engine that could get damaged.

My damn undertray broke off after I put my licp on and since then I've had my undertray off for about 2 years and haven't had any problems. I Even drove my car in harsh conditions with the rain and through some snow without putting the undertray back on. I purchased another used undertray but never put the crap back on. I wasted $100, shiet!! Though, I've only got 20k miles on my car since the 3 years I've had it, so I rarely drive the car nowadays.

It's safe to run it without, but it's not the optimum choice though. It keeps the engine free of unnecessary dirt and debris. As far as aerodynamic advantages I could see that if you are running at high speeds but if you are just tooling around town then I don't see how it could be advantageous.

Just swap out the stupid stock plastic screw type clips with GM push/pull versions. They are so much easier to deal with. You can get them at your local GM dealer or a body shop supply store.

For those that don't think its important. Read the technical information on Evo's. The undertray helps cool the brakes, oil, tranny and TC as well as reduce lift and improve aerodynamics. Reduced drag = better MPG too! If you are doing a lot of city driving its not as important. If you are on the highway a lot you'd be silly not to use a undertray.

a little off topic but i have chargespeed wide fenders and i had to eliminate the fender liners along with the under tray. I wana get the beatrush one but does anyone know if you need to retain the factory fenders liners?
