Apexi AVC-R vs GReddy Profec B Spec II
The last few weeks I have read over & over about which boost controller to go with. At first, I saw the AVC-R as an over expensive piece and couldnt justify the $375ish for it. I really had my mind set on the Profec for the cheaper price and that its able to read PSI electronically. (Im afraid my mechanical gauge is off.)
Then a buddy of mine gets a AVC-R and it quite impressive... although, im afraid that I would be dumping $ down the tube for something that does the same thing as the $220ish piece. I would instantly be sold on the AVC-R if it read in PSI, and I am by no means interested in trying to convert bar->psi in my head all day long.
Has anyone used both of these units and can tell which they liked better? This is giving me a headache.

I have the Apexi AVC-R and I am very happy with it.
I got over the PSI thing fast after all its really there to let you know if something is amiss.
A friend of mine has the GReddy Profec B in his Evo and he said he's happy with it.
He would tell you it dose the job.

AVCR is a great piece if you know how to use it. Very confusing. The pro is very simple and easy to use. Why not just go with a MBC not an EBC? There is no really advantage to having the EBC besides the incab ability to change boost levels. /if that is all you want then get a hallman incab kit.

the AVC-R and the new HKS EVC6 have RPM based MAP settings which you can use to eliminate taper. MBC cant do that for you and EBC compensates for temp change etc where as you MBC will be over boosting when it gets cold.
i prefer an EBC

ive used the avc-r on my old rx7... great boost controller... ill go with a mbc this time around... mainly due to the overload of functions i never used on the ebc.... im a simple type of guy..so tons of extra functions that i payed for but never used kinda bugs me... but if you are gonna actually use all the functions.. then go with the avc-r!
