215/50/17 Tires on EVO VIII RS

Car I'm looking at to possibly buy is an EVO RS 2005. Dealer says it has EVO IX rims. The tires are 215/50/17 NEXEN CP641. Should I be worried about such a small tire on the car? Are these tires decent? They look like camry-rated stuff to me... Any advice on this, or other things to look at on this car would be appreciated. They are asking 24,000 with 31k miles. Apparently stock.

thats really odd.......

someone went really really cheapass on replacing the tires...........

the car is probably fine.........but if i were you i'd ask to at least have tires on the car that were of stock size (235/45/17), or if you buy the car as is, ask for a discount and put decent rubber on them asap.

they probably are camry/cheap/crap tires that the dealer put on the car just to get it off the lot............probably cost the dealer less than $50 a tire........

Yes, those tires are horrid. Also, RS's are only 26-27k new, so an 05 RS is not worth 24k.

Thanks for the input guys... Was that the MSRP on both the VIII RS and IX RS models? Sorry for the nub response, been reading a LOT here trying to educate but haven't seen the figures for what the new 05's went for.

Yes, the VIII and IX RS models were only $500 apart. The RS is stripped down and lacking all creature comforts other than A/C, so it's mainly for someone who plans to race the hell out of it or who just loves Evos so much that he doesn't care what is missing as long as he can get it very cheap. for that reason, it SHOULD be very cheap, because you can find othre 05s for that price that have all the regular stuff you'd want like power windows, power locks, ABS, sound deadening, radio, etc.
