280hp Or 300hp

hi
i just got new evo IX european version with 280hp in the brochure.the dealer said he sold allready 130 evos IX from the beginning year from his store.
he told me that the japanese ,put less hp than it really has.he put brand new evo IX on dyno and it had 304hp from beginning.so he said that it has between 300hp -306hp from the factory.do you guys know something about this.or is it bull.h.t.?

Unless they took out the engine and put it on an engine dyno its really a guessing game on the hp. The HP rated from Mitsu is bhp or crank hp not to the wheels.

over in europe they typically go by brake horsepower which is crank horsepower so that 304 is entirely feasible since our cars are slightly underrated from the factory.

286 is already the brake horsepower. Stock Evo's put down around 240whp.
