^Yup.
Mazda actually offered to buy back the cars from owners who weren't satisfied that they were decieved, no questions asked. Sounds a little like trying to "brush it under the rug to make it go away".
Funny thing is the same controversy happened when the turbo'd miata came out.
When tuners got their hands on both vehicles and did baseline pulls the numbers were way off. It was the industry tuners who actually recognized this first and brought it to the attention of Mazda, who then in turn tried to buy the trust their owners. Deception and misleading info is not something I want from a company that I just forked over a lot of dough to. I think Mazda tried blaming on the new SAE ratings or something.
A couple of things really puzzle me about the Mazda engineering team. 1. It is obvious that the wankel rotary is not nearly as durable or responsive to modification than it's in-line, V, and flat counterparts. and 2. Why in the hell would you make turbo'd cars with tmic and no hood scoop? I know the hood bulge is supposed to guide cool air over the intercooler, but here is AZ efficiency is at it's lowest.
.....hmm maybe all of the detonation and pulled timing issues with the speed 6 and 3 are due to poor engineering and/or cheap cost saving parts bin ***** cars.
Nothing against Mazda though, I just saw a hot mom driving a yellow one with shiny polished wheels. It was very "grown up looking", I mean she was very grown up looking.

Well to be more accurate, it wasn't 30 hp. The car was advertised as 250 hp, then the new rating was 238 after some uproar. Mazda did offer to buy the cars back from displeased owners, though if they chose to keep the cars they were given a lot of free services and maintenance valued between $1500 and $2000, if I remember correctly.

Wow, no love. Have fun with your new ride. I like how they look in white, or maybe it was just because of the really hot chick driving it. Either way, everyone has their reasons, I'm sure yours is good.
