Getting sick of some drivers
Cliffnotes: pissed at stupid people
I used to own a Cobra (mustang), but it was stolen a few years back. So i still spend some time on the cobra forums, you know whatever. But the lack of some of these guys info is really starting to kill me.
Im a car guy. Love cars, loving seeing awesome cars. This is why i respect the evo so much. I mean, a car that with slight modification will out race a lamborghini (top gear, british car show), for an evo price tag, is just friggin nuts.
So when you get all these domestic guys who cant see past their turn signal and think the USA is the only way, it just pisses me off. Dont get me wrong, i loved my cobra and do want another.
Guess im just sick of ignorent people.
After though: cant wait to get an evo, then smoke domestic cars, then explain to them why they lost. Mmmm, good times.

Unfortunately, that's just the mentality of *most* musclecar guys in some way.
When I was in high school, I had a friend who pretty much built his 1970 Chevy Nova with a 350 ci V-8 since we were in junior high, so he knows a lot about cars and how they work. He was also very aware of how capable a lot of imports are, so he always respected them, as he was well aware of four-cylinders getting single-digit timeslips for the quarter mile. However, he was also misinformed sometimes. I talked to him even when we went off to college, and I asked him what he thought about The Fast and the Furious (not the greatest example, but it's what was out at the time), and he mentioned something about the last race scene, saying "The Supra never would've even been able to keep up with it from the launch, it's just a four-cylinder." Obviously he didn't know that the Supra was actually a six-cylinder, and already had 320 hp from the factory. And I'm pretty sure he didn't know how strong Supra blocks are and how easy it is to make retarded amounts of hp and torque without having to replace or reinforce certain engine parts. Also, when I got an Evo and posted pics of it, he was quick to make remarks about the wing ("It's good you have that, since you'll need all that downforce going 300 mph"), though I was quick to correct him and talk about the added downforce it has been proven to provide during high-speed cornering, something his Nova could NEVER do.
Another one of my buddies who was in my fraternity was always a muscle car guy too, driving a Camaro Z28 with chrome Z06 wheels and a nice sounding Borla exhaust. He always mocked imports, though one day when he decided to buy a motorcycle from some guy, he took me with him (just in case he ended up buying it that day so I could drive his car back), and the guy selling the motorcycle also had an STi, which was new at the time. After my friend agreed to buy the motorcycle, I asked the guy if he could take us for a quick spin since I had never ridden in one at the time. He gladly accepted, and my friend was making all sorts of noises when the guy punched it, as he wasn't expecting such power, though he was even louder when we hit a curve marked "20 mph" though we were definitely going 60. Then when I got an Evo, I took him for a spin, and he was pretty much crapping in his pants.

I'm not gonna thread jack the OP, but I could care less about 1/4mi times. Bottom line a Lambo will smoke an Evo in a real life/track drivers situation. No matter what humongo turbo you put on an Evo to beat a Lambo at the end of the day we still drive jap econo boxes and a Lambo is still a Lambo.

I too have been on both sides of the camp and real car guys import/domestic preferance will have civilized and respectful conversations. I frequent svtperformance.com daily and there are some real car guys on that site that can respect import performance.
There are equally dumb import enthusiasts too. One guy is argueing about the superiority of the RB26 over the LS series motors which is just about the stupidest thing I've ever heard. The LS series motors are probably the best thing going right now.
As far as status goes I think we would all take a lambo over a EVO as long as I don't have to pay for the lambo!!

There are ignorant people everywhere. Ever talk to any Honda guys? Oh my goodness, the B16 is the greatest motor ever with VTEC! Somehow, they missed out on the fact that the K20 has been out for a number of years..... not to mention, that old VTEC is way outdated compared to double vanos, etc. Then you go over to some Nissan boards and they're saying, "The SR20 is the greatest motor ever!". Uh, yeah... that's a 17 yr old motor too and isn't even close to the newest motors out there. There are a bunch of idiots on this board too thinking the Evo is the greatest car that will ever be created. And of course, you have your Mustang guys, Camaro guys, Porshce idiots, Supra dick-measuring contestants, Ferrari owners who can't drive worth a crap (evidence by all the Enzos getting wrecked), the list goes on and on.
I break down 'car guys' into two main camps; those that respect cars for how they actually perform, and those that are all the 'bandwagon' guys that all think their car is the greatest because their car is loosely based on some very well performing version of their car. Ex: the AMS evo can run 9's, or kicks *** at Time Attack, my Evo must be awesome! Here's a reality check, while the Evo is a very good car, and handles well out of the box, it's not exactly fast stock and is based off of a 4-door economy car. You can extend this example out to guys with v6 mustangs thinking their car is the **** because of the 500hp Shelby GT, etc.
Eh, there are just tons of idiots out there, period.

Some of those people don't like to give dredit where it's due, an Evo gets all that power from a 4cy engine. I find that impressive. Other cars, be it a Mustang, Vette, Porche ect.. all have their own feel to them. I don't think there is any reason to hate over any car.

I brought up the whole lambo vs. evo thing just to show how advanced the AWD system is on an evo. I mean, in that video they put a race driver in the lambo and the host of the show in the evo, but the lambo couldnt get away. Granted it was a smaller course without a long straight. But that does show that the evo is a very smart car.

LOL It was a TV show.....AKA TOP GEAR.......It was fixed. And the Evos AWD system ain't "that" advanced.
