Reichen and his EVO 2 break more records out at The Sllver State Classic
Mike Reichen and his EVO 2 went to Ely Nevada to run in the staight line competitions associated with the Silver state classic open road race on this past Friday & Saturday 9-14 & 9-15.
On sat. he ran in the Z2Z which is to try and go from 0 up to 200 mph in less than a mile and then stop as quickly as possible. Up until this year nobody has made it to 200 before the mile due to the extreme altitude (6500 ft with a measured altitude density of 8200 ft). This year there where three cars that made it, there was a 1500 whp twin turbo viper, also an 1100 hp ultima GTR with a twin turbo ls2, and a poor little out of place EVO 2 !!
The score goes
Third place : Viper
Second place :Ultima GTR
First place :EVO 2
Margin of victory approx. 600 feet!!!
On Saturday he ran in the standing mile race at the same place. History on this race is the previous record of 202 mph, set by a supercharged and bottle fed viper. Nitrous is no longer allowed.
There where basicly 4 players in this standing mile contest. There was a Norwwegian 86 trans-am with a huge *** procharged 540 ci big block chevy, and then the same players as in the Z2Z comp.
results
4th place: Yellow twin turbo viper at 200.00 mph
he had problems(hole in engine after turning it up).
3rd place: 86 trans am at 206 mph
2nd place: Ultima GTR at 209 mph
1st place: You guessed it, the flying brick 1994 Evo 2 at 212.8 mph for the new record.
He would like to thank one of his new sponsors Optima Batteries for transporting his little white monster from the Chicago area to the desert. He has also been using an Optima battery in his Evo for 2 seasons.
Thanks to Adam from Devo Tuning for flying out there with him to help him out, and also all the hard work Adam and the Devo Tuning crew did to the car before the race.
He would also like to thank everyone envolved with his car for the performance of there parts and service being second to none.
