Honda's are a waste of time and money if you are going to try and mod one. A bunch of my friends use to be into honda's and after all the modding they had done at the end of the day it was still a slow FWD car that could even come close to matching a stock EVO (or STI for that matter)! Honda=great DD.....just not great performance!! IMO

I wouldn't even consider buying a used car with 90K miles unless it is a classic and I planned on restoring it. Not only is the drivetrain worn out, the suspension bushings, arms, joints are as well. Then theres the problem with rust eating away everything.
It might be ok for a trip around town, but if your friend is going to race the car then there will most likely be problems.

don't write off Hondas. I have friends with Hondas that would spank 90% of the Evos on this board.

Uh, neither of your two options, I think he should have what he likes... And yes, it is possible not to like Evos, they're great, but they're not THAT amazing.

For the 17k or 18k or whatever I'd buy a 5k Civic hatch and do 10k of work on it For a track car that is... For a daily driver/part-time racer I'd pick whichever I enjoyed most and whichever I wanted more. (And there's the insurance, maintenence, gas, and getting approved for the car, and finding a used Evo in good enough shape but beat up enough to be only worth 18k... Just FYI I TRADED mine in for 18.5k, it was an '03 with 52k miles... and that's trade-in)

i highly doubt u can find an Evo 8 that's in great condition for 18K. If you did, someone would have bought it the minute it was listed.

Get the Evo. FWD is inferior and you know it. Why spend all that money on a fwd honda when in the end it will still be slow around turns and tractionless? Besides, its so easy to make power with the 4G63, you just look at it the wrong way and it makes more power. Heres a tip: if you do get the Evo and proceed to drive it in the New England winter, get the chassis professionally undercoated or it will rust out the entire underbody after a few years.

1. Too many people here own an RSX.
2. The Evo is just an all around "more awesome" car.

or an EVO

those mods, low 13 second to high 12s... handling *speaks for itself* $2-3000 in BRAKES... USEABLE power.
Why do you care so much about what car he will purchase? Are you his girlfriend? Only girls do what you're trying do. Lame.

well he already made the decision so im kind of confused on why you posted...also, i dont even think its a question, NA vs Turbo....FWD vs AWD...and to be honest with you the evo ix(or an viii with newer bumper) looks like sex so i dont even think styling can take it...all in all i still have to say, stupid thread

His intentions where to have a decent, not so expensive car to do some minor stuff to over time and keep it simple... and get into an apartment. Welllll that didn't happen. Since he bought it 2 months ago he is still living at home and has done the following...

-Cat-Back $550
-Used CAI $175
-Hawks pads $170
-ADR Wheels $660
-Springs $200 + 180 install
-Shocks are junk so he is getting coilovers $800-1000
-Short throw $100 *I think*

and the mods to follow are...

-Race header... $300
-Hondata KPro $950
-Tune... whatever it comes out to $200?

All in all a $13,000 car turned into a total investment of hmm... $17,000

Situation 1:

2003 Acura RSX Type S w/83,000 miles. Total investment $17000 when all is said and done... the car at this level makes 215whp, is still FWD... and we live in Maine...

Situation 2:

2003-04 EVO VIII $18,000...+ Flash $400 + TBE $500 = 275 ALL wheel hp, a car that handled as well as alot of exotics... usable power in rain... shine...snow *kinda but its fun*... Brembo brakes...

I am trying to tell him that such an investment into a FWD car when you live in Maine or you don't live in Maine... considering for only a couple grand more at best you can have something 50 times better. Is crazy not to... his excuse is "maintinence is more expensive"... "gas too"... pff, he puts super in the Type S and he gets 20-23... ooo he saved 3 mpg
Why are you bashing your friend here on the forums? Everyone here will clearly pick an EVO over a rsx.
