Difference between BG and BGII?

I'm looking at changing my transmission fluid and was wondering if there is any big difference between BG and BG II Synchoshift?

Not sure on the differences, but I'd strongly recommend keeping OEM Mitsu Super Diaqueen.

Search and see.

I did some searching, like I should have done in the first place, and came up with my answer. I tried getting some Diaqueen at my local dealership and they only have the large container so that is out of the question. It appears that BG II is fully synthetic and is just as good as OEM Diaqueen, if not better to help in 1-2 shifts and 5th gear grinds. I would prefer to buy something locally (Royal Purple, GM, Pennzoil) as opposed to ordering on-line and then having to wait for its delivery though.

BG synchro shift is non synthetic

BG synchro shift II is synthetic.

We use 1 bottle of BG synchros shift II mix w/ 1 bottle of each Redline MTL and Redline MT90 for transmission.

And use Transfercase and rear diff use OEM Diaqueen.

The formula is from Shep Racing

I have been happy with BGII. Once warmed up my gearbox shifts very smoothly from 1 to 2. I don't remember the gearbox being that smooth on the OEM fluid. When it comes to transfer case definately use diaqueen.

I know BG II will make shifts smoother, but would it cause extra wear on the gears?

I did research all the available GL-4 fluids before I put the BGII into my gearbox and decided it was fine for my application. I don't race my car and I change the gearbox fluid every 15Kmi. If I was racing and had mods than I would look into the "Shep formula" of mixing BGII with heavier MT-90. But I drive my Evo every day and in the Winter a really heavy mixture would be harmful to my synchros until the fluid finally warmed up. I look for shavings everytime I do my change and have not found anything abnormal.

Anybody tried Amsoil Manual Transmission and transaxle fluid? It's full synthetic, GL-4, 75W-90.

I have been running Amsoil trans fluid (correct weight for our cars also) for 12k or so. I lik it way better than the BG stuff.

Just my .02...but I would never run that BG ever again. The BG brokedown after 10k - and whats the weight of it? (hint: its unknown).

I was just wondering cause i am going to put Amsoil in next fluid change. Been searching for different fluids to use and this one meets all the requirements for the 5 speed.
Are you using Amsoil gear lube for your tc and rear diff?
