reflash

ive heard that you can get a reflash at ams (i live about 20 minutes away) for like 70 bucks, and with only intake and exhaust get a pretty decent gain from it...is this true? right now the cars stock with the exception of a blitz bov, which ill more than likely be replacing with an hks. i just wanna make sure i do the evo right since its a keeper...i swapped out so many after market parts on my srt i had before this so i just wanna do everything right the first time with this car.

I got my car flashed from AMS when they had a special going on. I paid $150. I think normally it's $250-$300.

For $250-300, I hope that is dyno flashed and not just regular flash.

Id either got with their full dyno tune or just spend 100 bucks and have mellon tune you. He'll do as many revisions as needed to get the tune right. Its like having a e-road tune.

I agree. I'm all for AMS as you can tell by my sig below, but their custom tuning is $495 last time I checked, and that's a little pricey for me. I'll get a custom tune by them once I get heavily modified, but for bolt ons, look up Mellon (www.mellontuning.com). Yes, you have to buy a cable, but the tuning is relatively cheap and Chris knows what he's doing.

FWIW AMS custom tune rates are competitive as far as proven professional tuning rates on dynos go for the Chi-burbian area. I wouldn't consider it paying for a name as much as I would consider it paying for experience.

A RE-Flash, if thats how you heard it, might be when you get a flash done by a vendor, add something else, then have them flash it again at a discounted price. Although $70 seems pretty cheap, its not far from what I've heard vendors offering for a REflash.

keep in mind that many vendors low priced tune is a canned tune meaning you get flashed once with a ROM that worked okay on another car and that's it. Mellon Tuning ROMs are all customized to fit your car by sending logs/roms back and forth until it's perfect.
