Why did you pick the EVO over the STi?

I was always leaning towards the evo, and when I went into the mitsu dealership they were cool and helped me out immediately. When I walked into the subie dealership to see what they could do in an STi they ignored me completely so I just walked out and bought the evo.

Well it WASNT a thread about which to buy and asking you to compare them. I already have an STi I was just asking what made you pick the EVO over the STi, why you all DIDNT but the STi. Yes it is basically the same thing but I'm not some 15 year old kid asking you guys which one would be best since I saw the EVO in the fast and the furious 3 and want to drift it now.

drove my friends STi thought it felt kinda cheapy and less purpose built than the evo. test drove an evo and fell in love with every bit of it. one of the biggest things suprisingly is that the STi steering wheel feels huge compared to the evos, and the shifter has alot more play, but i guess thats personal preference.

yeah i test drove the an 06 sti and i thought it was great, it felt overall better than my wrx but i didn't wanna get it cuz i had been researching evos over and over again. then i went to test drive the evo and they wouldn't let me... So i *****ed and walked out and they let me drive it in the lot and even going 10 mph i could tell it was better. Its just such a solid car, i have no regrets.

I didn't...initially. I was not a big fan of the EVO 8. I like the 04-05 STi and I got one with a Subaru guaranteed trade-in value on my 02 WRX and invoice on the 05 STi. I really liked that car. Something came up and I was forced to sell it. A couple years later when things got better I fell in love with the EVO IX. I found a clean, unabused IX RS with only 1100 miles on it. I couldn't be happier. I'm almost sad I'll be daily driving this beauty in the crappy Midwest winter though.

Sti's are not more reliable. I have several friends that have had a lot of problems with their STi's , trannys go out.. engine problems... etc. Evos are far superior. Built a lot better.

There are problems with both. STi trannies go out because people launch them incorrectly, and abuse the **** out of them, not because they are poorly made.
